not messing about with slow play this week, Carlota Ciganda wins the 18th hole to win the match against Sarah Schmelzel but is then penalised for slow play. Penalty is loss of hole, Schmelzel wins the match.

She looked pretty displeased on the coverage and watching her putts I don't imagine that club is being nice today.

I wouldn't say that.  This isn't tennis.  The 115th ranked player just won a major championship.  Anything can happen.

 

Not to mention, she may be more focused on next week, and just using this to keep sharp.

... and she's pretty good at it.  Which is more than one can say for CK's play today unfortunately.

 

Some worrying signs as to the state of the game for a few of the big Open contenders, Brooke et al need to use the remanining matches well

Yeah, a few surprises today. Alison over Hyo Joo for starters. Inbee and Patty only managing a tie. Hannah losing. 

 

Brooke almost killed herself climbing over a rope. Why are there ropes near the greens when there are no fans?

JYK doesn't like match play because she doesn't like playing 1 on 1 and beating her opponent.

 

I think there would be more Korean LPGA wins if the Korean gals possessed a more FIERCE attitude.....SYR, In Gee, Hee Young, Amy Y, Hyo Joo , etc.

 

If they want to win more...they should all sign up for a group discount at the Cristie Kerr School of Decorum....just sayin.🤣

Gulbis is also pretty well known afaik for being great with fans and sponsors and such.  I can see why she'd get an invite even though she hasn't been real competitive in a while.

 

Also, it was a last minute deal -- Michelle Wie West had been given an invite and accepted, but withdrew late last week.  Gulbis then got the invite.
