Golf in Eugene

Hi! I’ve got a trip to Bandon coming up and I’ve enjoyed reading all of the stuff on here about the courses.

 

I’m arriving a little ahead of our group (3:30pm on a Friday - everyone else gets in at noon on Saturday) and I’m thinking I’ve got time to get a couple rounds in while I’m in Eugene.

 

Based on some quick research, I was thinking I’d do Emerald Valley on Friday afternoon and Diamond Woods on Saturday morning before meeting up with my group at the airport.

 

Would love any feedback on whether I’m making the right choices... Thanks!

Those are your best Eugene options for publics, though neither are all that special.  If you're a member of a private club, it's absolutely worth seeing if you can get on Eugene Country Club as an unaccompanied guest.  Might be a little tight time-wise, but instead of Diamond Woods I'd suggest Tokatee up in the Cascade mountains.  It's about an hour east on Hwy 126 from Eugene, so if you're able to get your rental car and hit the road by 4pm, you could be teeing off a little after 5pm.  Presumably there'd be little play late in the day so you should be able to move around fairly fast and be done before dark.

Second Tokatee if you're willing to drive an hour there and back from Eugene. A truly magical course. My buddies and I started our first annual golf trip there when we were in college, staying in cabins right on the McKenzie river.
