NCW Campbell

Has anyone rolled the NCW Campbell or Campbell with flange?  I know Ari plays the Campbell with flange but a search yields no results when seeking feedback

So you may not see a lot on NCW putters, they're out there but not a lot of guys on social media. They'll feel good cause Al will put tungsten in the heads and spread it out for the most MOI he can get in a head of whatever shape he's making.

 

I have a Boyd that I scored used and haven't gamed it yet but it's a very solid and stable putter, I know @FlashinLeather has an NCW and so does @jh19I'm sure they can let you know their thoughts on the ones they have.

I find the process and flexibility extremely interesting. I just am curious for feedback since searches yield so little.

That's fair, I'm sure feedback on the putters could be helpful, but an exact shape may be harder to find especially for one that isn't too popular.

does the feel of your mirror any other putters?  It is like stainless, carbon, old odyssey insert, etc

The insert Al can use quite a bit of different options, like say you want like copper or something like that I'm sure he can, it also depends on the etching you get. The one I have has a lot of little squares so it gives kind of a medium firm feeling. If you get a smooth insert it will have more feedback and if you want something really soft I'm sure he has something for that.

NCW is legit, no question. I say it has a stainless feel to it, sound as well, however I feel it’s more responsive. I am selling one, but only because it can’t kick my Protoype out!

I have rolled a Campbell with a flange that had some toe hang. It is a really good looking shape. Al is currently making me a face-balanced version.

Agreed with the above comments. It can be designed to make it feel as "hard" or "soft" as you want. I wouldn't say any feel like an insert but more like SS that can be milled to different hard/soft feeling - in this case the deepness of the grooves or etching will largely determine the feeling of an NCW.

 

At the end of the day you just need to find the shape that fits your eye/stroke and then everything else is easily customizable.

It’s good to hear that you liked it enough to pull the trigger. The number of options to chose from makes ordering from NCW a unique experience as you are only limited by your imagination.

What is ballpark $ on one of these? If it's anything like the other NCW offerings, I am assuming well out of my price range but likely worth it.

I just sent in my order and paid last week. I won’t give specifics but I will say that the price for an unpolished putter does not contain a comma

Yeah the polishing hurts, I'm thinking of selling my Boyd for something more me but I'm scared to ask the price.

The price wasn’t as bad as I expected. It is much closer to Byron or Lajosi than it is to Betti

That's not bad at all honestly, plus now they have a few more finishes so polish isn't needed.

I was actually very happy with the price structure. Stamping, sight lines, face, finish … all of it was the same price. Whereas others will say $100 for this, $80 for that, etc

I prefer that as well cause that 500 starting price is suddenly 950 with basic options it doesn't make sense at all.

Its not gonna perform any better than a Scotty or Toulon at less money.   No one also knows who NCW is if you wanna sell it.

the tech inside the NCW is such that it will perform better than the two you mentioned. As for resale you won’t get the full price back, no argument there

Scotty or Toulon don't make a setup I prefer OTR, if I want a Garage Toulon in my setup I might as well buy an NCW and probably pay less.

 

My resale audience would also be people who know who NCW not the regular joe blow who buys whatever is in store.

Yep. As far as custom work goes NCW is a lower cost option and heavily differentiated from competitors.

And as a lefty they are one of the few brands who will say "yeah I can make that in left hand" along with any neck, toe hang, weight, etc. Meanwhile Scotty just tosses lefties a NP2 and calls it a day.

Yep, huge benefit that even ssfranny can appreciate being a lefty himself. Your imagination is the only limiting factor when ordering from NCW

It's almost too much to pick because you can pick anything, I got too overwhelmed but I think now I know what I want for one.

No question.  I put in my order recently and it was A LOT to work through.  It took intentional reminders to myself to keep it clean and simple.  It is so easy to get carried away and put everything you want into it.

Yeah I wanted stuff engraved everywhere and it got too busy, took a step back and now plan to make it much simpler and cleaner with some engraving in it.

I went a step further and ordered the Best Grips custom grip with a logo dancing down the front as a way to extend the customization without adding any busy-ness.

Brandon Matthew is the custom putter maker for lefties hes a lefty himself.  But same reason I dont do a custom LH putter with him.  If I didnt like not a big buyer pool.

Brandon Matthew got stock models for $449 can pick weight length and stamping. If you want a standard and not a flow neck.
