Golf Bags - 14 or 5??

What do you prefer and why?

14 slots or 5?

My favorite is the 6 way on my Vessel Players 2.0 bag.  Not a fan of 14 way due to lack of flexibility to add extra clubs when I go to the range and I like to slide clubs over when I am carrying my bag.

I prefer the 14 way on my Vessel Players 2.0.    On the course, if you forget a club it's quickly obvious.  I like each club having it's own slot.  But it's personal preference.

I kept banging clubs until I got a 14 with full length dividers. It was $20 on Facebook, I'm happy.

I just made the switch from a Hoofer Lite to a Sun Mtn H2NO 14-way. 

 

My beef with the Hoofer Lite was the constant tangling of grips down inside the bag. 

 

I'm not 100% sold on the 14-way top yet, but it does at least avoid the tangling issue. I like knowing where each club belongs and whether one is missing.

For me it depends on whether I'm going to be walking more or riding more.  In past seasons I lived in an area that I didn't walk as much, maybe 1 in 8 rounds so I had a 14 way stand bag and liked it for the cart, and for my push cart.  The course I play most frequently now I walk probably 4 of 5 rounds so the 5 way is my choice these days though I'm looking at a couple other options that will ride a push cart a little better.

3, 4, 5, 6, whatever. Never 14, that's awful. The clubs just won't stop clanking against each other.

This. Plus I like to zip the clubs back into a section of the bag rather than look for a specific slot.

I'll carry more than 14 clubs most of the time. Im always practicing with something new/old. 14 divider prevents me from carrying the extra clubs.

I prefer 14 slots, but it keeps knocking off the cover of my 33" putter. Likely go with 5/6 slots next time.

I have 14 divider but never thought if they clang more?  Never thought If the extra clubs too at the range. I usually take out a few if I am trying something out. I thought then 4-5 ways the clubs tangled more and we’re difficult to put back?  Now you guys have got me thinking.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems most low handicaps like 5 or fewer slots. Perhaps this has something to do with better players preferring to walk, and walking bags are smaller with fewer dividers. When I see someone with a bag with a divider for each club (until now I actually never even thought about how many slots there are) I automatically think cart rider, bought all clubs off the rack and might have iron covers.

 

That said, it would be nice to not have the grips get all stuck together in smaller bags, but I guess the solution is just carry less clubs.

14 way Ping Hoofer, but I carry only 10 clubs. I leave the top 2 corners and the uppermost 2 sides empty.

Just bought a Nike stand bag just for the divider setup.  It’s the basic 4with a small slot just above the top 2 slots that holds my driver and fairway.  I walk 100% of the time, and that gives some extra separation.  I place my towel in the top in between groups of irons.... less clatter, no chatter.

This setup on the Adidas Samba bags has been my favorite but it’s not common to find.

Grew up in an era when 4 or 6 way dividers were the norm, heck most bags didn't even have full-length dividers, and I always hated the inevitability of the grips getting tangled and me getting aggravated trying to pull a club.

My first 14-way divider bag was like a gift from the heavens ... and I haven't looked back, and frankly I can't think of a reason that I'd go back to anything less.
It still makes me chuckle every time I see someone struggle trying to pull a club out of their bag, or get one back in.

To each his own I suppose.

Went to 14 because I was tired of my dad laughing at me when I couldn't get the clubs in and out of the bag.

I prefer to walk and really like the 4 way in my hoofer lite, even with midsize grips I don't often run into tangle issues. If I do, its when the stand legs are out, if it tip the bag upright everything falls back into place. I've used a 5 and still prefer the 4.

Actually I am as old school as heck and prefer a 3 way but a 4 way is close enough

When I’m walking / carrying I really like my small 4 slot stand bag, but I only use 12 clubs in that one.  For riding or push cart, I like my larger 14 slot stand bag, with 14 clubs.

That is like the old Ogio Woode (sp) system.
