Relief from overpass retaining wall....?

We have a local course, hole 2, dogleg right short par 4. Its tucked in the corner of the roads overpass and the highway. There is a 200 foot long, 40 foot high retaining wall all down the left side of this hole basically.

 

If you hit a drive that is against the wall, is it a one stroke with 2 clubs or free relief.

Depends whether there is a Local Rule in force saying those structures are Integral Objects of the course or not. With no LR one should get a free relief.

It’s critical to know whether the retaining wall also defines out of bounds on that hole.  If it does, no free relief.

I would assume it defines the bounds since after the wall is 70mph traffic.

 

That said I do not remember if they have white stakes along the base of the wall....

This is pretty important.  Its possible that the OB is defined as the top of the wall on the side towards the road, and that the entire wall is in bounds.

Note that irrespective of which side of the wall is defined as OB, if the wall is a boundary object there is no free relief from it. For instance, if the outside edge of the wall is the OB line and your ball comes to rest on top of the wall, the ball is in bounds but no free relief is available.

The wall is  40 foot high.  😮
