“Head Only” club sales

Why do some sellers try to push buying the shafts when selling clubs with screw off heads? In most cases, the sellers shaft, may be the wrong flex,length, & brand the new owner is fitted for. I only list “Head Only” unless the buyer wants the shaft included. Any thoughts?

Probably because don’t want to keep the shaft. If it’s from a retailer  they sell clubs not heads. In general a club has more value than a head only. And it’s up to the seller what they want to sell, not the whims of a potential buyer.

I buy clubs to play not for value. Just saying, I get your point as well.

Because you can charge extra for it even if they aren't going to use it. I try to sell the full club to get more value. No one buys shafts unless they are aftermarket and I don't want to be stuck with the loss on it if I can avoid it.

If your a regular seller it’s no big deal to sell the head and sell the shaft.  If your someone like me, who is just trying to sell what didn’t work out/has been replaced, it’s a PIA to have someone buy the head on Monday, ship it out on Tuesday, then on Wednesday maybe you sell the shaft and have to package again, and ship.  This is just me.  If I can find a buyer that will take both it saves some effort.  Sometimes it doesn’t work out that way but I prefer it.

Some people need a shaft.  Some don’t.  Nobody has to buy anything.  Sometimes you find a buyer that can take both, sometimes you can’t.

Great points guys, I asked the question because I wanted a sellers opinion about why some sellers are against a “Head Only” sale. As a seller, if a buyer wants the “head only”, that’s fine with me.

The bigger issue for me is dealing with selling shaft only if it's a standard OEM shaft. It's a pain and most of the time, your total proceeds from selling the head and shaft separately will be less than selling the complete club.

 

Different story for selling a Velocore or similar option by itself, but it's tough to justify selling head only if it's a non-upgraded shaft.
