Sim2 rescue thoughts

Tempted to give hybrids another try, and have a few shafts with a TM adapter from some old GAPR’s.  Was thinking about giving the Sim2 Rescue a shot (not the Max), but wanted to hear from some users what they think about it.  Thanks in advance!

I’ve tried it (and wanted to love it) but its not forgiving at all!!

 

You may hear otherwise on here but my local range have had loads of people interested in it due to the looks alone but they’ve hardly sold any as it needs a consistent and strong swing to elevate it!

 

If you have the swing for it then I’ve no doubt it’s great but there’s far more forgiving options out there!!

I’m a 61 year old, 11 handicapper with a 90mph driver swing speed.  I bought a used 19* 3H Rescue MAX, stock Ventus Blue "6", and it blew away my white TM Rescue.  Dead straight and easy to get into the air.  I bought the 4H and it performs equally as well.  Now I’m on the hunt for a 5H and 6H.

 

The MAX plays far different than the smaller, iron-like Rescue.  Hit ‘em both.

I currently play a 3 turned down to 2. 
 

Overall, it’s one of the few clubs in my bag that I don’t have much love for. It has a Tensei blue (which is the shaft I use in my driver), and (in my opinion) it’s really designed for a digger not a sweeper. I am a severe digger with my irons, so I thought that I’d get along with this club but I don’t. The flight is low and boring, which is a bright spot. I don’t particularly care for the interaction out of the rough either. Off the tee is another bright spot for a reliable fairway finder. It does have the tendency to fade more than draw (which I personally love since my miss is an over-draw). 
 

As always, I’d hit it outside on actual grass if possible - you may love it! As for me, I plan to replace it with something less demanding to hit such as a G425, or even the Max version. Hope this helps and if you have any other questions just shoot me a PM!

I like mine, it's in my bag.  It is not forgiving.  If forgiveness is what you seek, go with the MAX version.  I gamed the SIM MAX last year and I really did love it, it was long and forgiving.  It did go left at times (not always, but it was my "miss").  I went with the SIM2 rescue to be able to open it a click and take the lefts out of play a bit.  It is very solid.  Comparisons to Cally Apex are accurate.  I feel the SIM2 is "distance consistent".  By that I mean it's been about the most consistent yardage I've gotten from a Hybrid.  Other hybrids I've gamed seem to have a much greater yardage dispersion, but this seems generally within 5 yards on good strikes each time.   

 

IMO the best blend of feel, forgiveness, and playability is the Titleist 818H1.  It's not the best at any of them, but it's good at all of them.

I’ve done outdoor / grass fittings for 3 hybrids from Ping, TM, and Callaway. I currently play a Callaway Razr Tour, which is still just about the best hybrid ever made IMO.

Anyway, for me the best current model is the Sim2 MAX. The worst of any model by a significant amount, is the standard SIM2. For me It has by far the lowest spin rate (1000 rpm less than the MAX),   over 4 degrees less landing angle, and 22 feet lower max height. 
For the standard SIM2, the delta between carry and total distance averaged 19 yards. Max averaged 12 with 10 yards longer carry.
To me, the main potential advantage of a hybrid is to “rescue” you from long distance situations by giving at least some chance of hitting and holding a green. With the standard SIM2, you need a green the size of a basketball court.
