Why don't more tour guys play the KBS C-taper?

I play em and love em. Obviously nowhere a tour player but for someone who hits irons high, these give me a fighting chance of keeping it lower.

Lots of guys play C-Taper on PGA and KF tours, also on Euro tour.  C-Taper is like PX - their audience is not huge.  I have a set as well as four other KBS shaft profiles and PX 6.0 and 5.5.

I liked the C-Tapers but my testing always came back with pretty much identical performance to the Dynamic Gold S300/X100, and having used those forever i knew the feel pretty well and preferred it for that reason

Maybe they were just too similar to the DGs which have been around forever.

Had them in the bag for 3 years.  Performance wise they were perfect for me.  Low/low shafts that felt like rebar.  Ended up moving on because I eventually broke a bone where the finger meets the palm and had golfer's elbow with wrist pain.  Most guys on tour are looking for more spin with their irons not less.  The way pins are tucked these days, they need all the back spin they can get which is why most of them prefer a mid spin shaft which the c-tapers are not.

They feel like crap.  Seriously, that's it.  There are other options that most people will get similar results from that feel much better.  Plus (not that the shaft really matters that much) guys are hitting the ball much higher than even 5 years ago.  It's much easier to have a stock high shot and knockdown when needed than the other way around.

That's way out of date.  Iron apex is closer to 40yds now and several guys average over 50yds apex with their driver.

A lot of guys probably got tired of having to frequently replace an iron shaft, due to the tip section becoming bent. It’s the way Kim Braley designed the tip section, it has been an issue for a lot of guys.

I’ve heard so many stories about how this iron or that one, was performing differently all of a sudden and ended up being a bent tip. A Tour player certainty can’t risk having that happen mid-round. When I was last fit for irons a few years back it was a choice between PX 6.0 or C Taper. The fitter mentioned his own problems he had with a few damaged tip on C Taper, that made PX an easier decision for me.

The bold statement above is not accurate.  PGA Tour apex average is 100.7 feet.  Yes, some like Rory have higher apex, but he's an exception rather than the rule.  The PGA Tour players face very different conditions, especially much faster greens, so ball apex has to be high and drop on the green.  That doesn't little to no value to average 10-18 index golfers, but eventually influences better golfers.

I played PX for twenty years and the shaft does matter.  Yep, PX feels harsh to most people, partly due to the constant taper, but stiff handle and stiff tip.  Due to shaft design, the ball reaches its apex in two basic ways.  As I said, I played PX 6.0 for many years.  My ball would abruptly climb to its apex then travel the club yardage, then drops.  Using TT/Dynamic Gold tour issue shaft, the ball starts low and gradually climbs aggressively over the club's yardage reaches its apex then drops.

I don't see either of those conditions being in play for most golfers.  Most people, regardless, of shaft don't have tour comparable SS to reach 100' apex average, much less have the ball spin or control to create such apexes.

Wrx has been around how long and guys still referring to "low spin shafts"??

Anyway, Like mentioned above, its probably almost exclusively because they feel horrible and requires a very specific swing and preference for feel in that player.
