Solo Ace… what would you do??

OP... congrats on the ace. Solo or witnessed its still an ace.

Got 3, first one solo with a guy on the driving range about 100 yrs from the hole telling me he heard my iron shot and saw me walk up to the hole and take my ball out of the hole. I said " thanks, appreciate it. "

He was getting another bucket and I was on my way to the 10th tee as we passed by the clubhouse. ( Didn't think any of mine were hit that good, btw)

If i was on my own and 'practising' - i'd arrive at the hole: slightly narked that i'd deprived myself the opportunity of getting some chipping and putting practice in - that i'd have managed if i missed the green..........

I play a lot of solo rounds and I'm not really sure what I would do.  I've holed out on 2nd shots before and just went and got my ball out of the hole.  No real celebration or pictures.  Just move on and bogey the next hole.  Ironically, the closest I ever came to making one, I was paired up with a random and the ball rolled towards the hole and hit the pool noodle that was sticking up.  He said he thought I should claim it, but I don't.  The ball was very close to the hole, like about 3", and the noodle was sticking up above the hole.  I didn't see it hit anything though.  I was just happy to be close.

I'd be really happy having shaved two shots off my score and then would move on to the next hole.

Congrats man! I think you did what ya could to try and enjoy the moment.... if it happened to me I'd probably get the phone out the bag and film it on my IG story hahaha, best I'd be able to do to document it. Say holy sh*t I just made an ace and video my walk up to the green and grabbing the ball from the cup.

I envy these folks whos lives are so fufilling that something like a HIO wouldn't even excite them, I got f*ck all for good things happening in my life so something like that would mean quite a bit to a loser like myself.

My only ace was solo—about four years ago with a 4 iron.  Can’t describe how I knew, but before the ball was halfway to the green I said (out loud), “Oh no, that ball is going in.”  One hopped straight into the cup. Immediately called the pro shop to have our head pro meet me at the green to confirm it.

Had my first albatross last week with seven witnesses.  213 yards with a 3 hybrid.  Only my partner in the bet was actually happy for me, though.  😂

Congratulations on the ace, OP!

I got my first one a couple of months ago and posted about it on here.

I play a fair amount of solo rounds, and had always assumed that if I got an ace it would be as a solo. I had somewhat resigned myself to probably never getting one.

But be glad yours happened the way it did. Mine happened with about 10 guys watching during a club event with at least 50 guys in the clubhouse when I arrived. But the event was open bar, but several of the guys felt like I should pony up for top shelf stuff. Anyway, it became this whole weird thing. I eventually agreed to a couple of bottles of super expensive wine and a couple of bottles of liquor. I wasn’t about to spend 4 figures for my hole in one (though it did cost me several hundred dollars). Considering I thought that my HIO would likely be solo it never crossed my mind that it might cost me that much.

So, got my first hole in one Weds morning.  But, not only was I solo, I was the first out on the course, so didn’t even have anyone within three holes.

I had always assumed I’d just scream to the guys on the next hole, but didn’t even have that option!

So, I started FaceTiming from the tee box, to have somebody in the moment with me.  First- best friend and golf buddy.  No answer.  Next- wife.  No answer.  Next- older brother. No answer. Finally- my dad, who would pick up a phone call from me or my brother in any circumstance.

Gave him some context, flipped the camera around, and took off down the fairway on a jog. Got to the hole, flipped it around, and had as best a moment as we could manage!

Wouldn’t change celebrating it on FT with him for the world.

But it got me thinking- what would you do if you hit a solo ace???

And-

1) pic for proof. Ballmark past the hole, one hopped an 8 iron back in.

2) as a odd kicker: finished my round before the 19th hole even opened, so had to wait 15 minutes to find three guys to buy a random beer for.  Literally had to ask them if it was cool for me to buy a round. Definitely the cheapest ace I’ve ever heard about.

Congrats OP on your solo ace. You know you did it and that's all that matters. Ignore the noise from some of the peanut gallery. Your ace made me recall this USGA commercial from some time back.

I'd pump my fist, take a picture of it and then tell the pro in the shop after the round. And I'd absolutely "count" it as a hole in one, because it is.

Congrats to the OP!

I got my only ace in the same manner.  Solo round at a local muni course.  I didn't hit a great shot, a little thin and low.  I couldn't actually see the bottom of the pin from the tee, the ball bounced before the green and kept some speed onto the green, it was rolling toward the pin so it was either going in, or off the back.  I walk up to the green and don't see the ball so I look off the back, still don't see it, so I go look in the hole just to check, and there it is.  Not an ideal way to make the shot but I'll take it.  I look around, I can see 3 other holes from this green, and not a soul, it even seemed the squirrels were gone, so quiet it was eerie, i just stood there looking around for what seemed like a long time (was probably only a few seconds), took a picture, picked up the ball, wrote the 1 on my card and played on.  No bar facilities on the course, nobody to celebrate with, still feels like it didn't happen.  Total cost - $0.00

I had a solo ace yesterday.  Luckily, I've had a couple before, while playing with other people.

I did all I could - took a picture, put a "1" on the card, moved on.

I had a solo ace a few years ago, playing one evening. When I finished my round, I told our pro of my good fortune, as I was helping him put the carts away. He smiled and asked me how many aces I’d had before tonight. I said, one. His reply was, “officially, you still have only one”. Damn, that was cold!

Congrats!

I'm still waiting on my first, but in your shoes I would pull the phone out and record my walk from the tee box to hole to show my wife when I got home.
