I don't know when golf became a heckling sport.  The idiots doing this are the same ones yelling mashed potatoes along with any other juvenile phrases that comes to their mind.

It's not just golf fans that are behaving badly.  Bad behavior is evident everywhere. Read the news. Lots more shootings.  Lot's more bad behavior on airplanes.  Seems crazy to me. You can't run away when your on an airplane and you know you'll be punished severely  but there is more and more. Loss of control must be a side effect of the pandemic.

People don't have to deal with boredom and anxiety today. The moment we get a feeling of discomfort or frustration we can reach for a phone and get a dopamine hit with out favorite distraction or echo chamber. Coping skills are at an all time low in human history.

I agree about the heckling having no place in golf BUT Dechambeau is such a perfect target. From bitching at a camera guy who was just doing his job that he was "making his brand look bad" to trying to get relief from an ant hole, and the pedantic way Bryson uses $10 words (some of which are used incorrectly lol) during interviews to sound smart. Can't forget his claim of ignorance that fans were getting booted from the course and that he "totally doesn't care heh". The desire to bully him is too strong. Did he get "buff" to hit it longer or to prevent people from making fun of him? We may never know, but the guys a dweeb and deserves the bantz imo.

I am “older” lol but I like the LPGA because their yardages are more in line with reality haha

The Westwood quote kinda sums up my thoughts on this.

In my opinion, if Bryson didn't come off as such a whiner there wouldn't have been the need for the tour to impose another ambiguous rule. And, quite randomly. I don't remember any new rules when Sergio was being heckled when re-gripping.

I can understand everyone having a problem with shouting during a player's swing. But, if a fan yells "Brooksie" as Bryson is walking to his ball, so what? 

It has always been in these players' interest (Sergio, Tiger, Bryson, etc.) to ignore the few that seem to only want to get under their skin.

Good on the Tour for addressing fan behavior.  It has been an issue for a long time and is only getting worse.  Bryson may be the most recent and biggest target currently, but he is clearly not the only one and will not be the last.

The LPGA golfers swing golf clubs more like most adult male golfers and how most adult male golfers should.  The LPGA swing tempo is smoother and they don't swing out of their shoes to bash balls.  I can relate to a low 100mph swing these days compared to the 120+ swing speeds of the PGA tour players.  I have attended a handful of LPGA tournaments in the past (while living in Delaware in the early 90s) and was always impressed with the tempo of the ladies. 

Not all older men are watching the LPGA for the reasons that you think.

 Westwood is a good conventional style player who didn't get the publicity or controversy that Bryson does- not in the same situation at all
