Great Fitting, couldnt have been more thorough.Very informative info on the Impact,we usually only see specifics like this on a Driver fitting.Over the years i have built many wedges, with Flatter Lie,for myself, and yes, i just look at the ball impact marks without the Computer,so my Basics were right!Play your best!

One thing I am curious about is how you measured wrist to elbow and elbow to shoulder?  Is there and explanation of the procedure somewhere?    Or maybe you could describe it?  I have seen stuff where the elbow is bent and the thumb is pointed at the shoulder but that method seemed kind of subjective to me...  Thanks!

I would love a fitting like that!

I’m gutted these aren’t really an option over here in Australia unless I want to try and fit myself

Tape measure used for measuring suits. It’s not usually a close measurement, meaning within millimeters. Mine was almost 2” difference.

Hmmm, okay the measurement of the forearm is from the bottom of the elbow to the base of the hand with the elbow bent?  Then for the upper arm from the bottom of the elbow to the top of the shoulder with the elbow in the same bent position?

If so it appears that my elbow to shoulder is about 2 or 3 inches longer than my elbow to wrist which indicates a tendency towards a flatter swing?

It goes back to Mike Adams:

”Based on years of research, Adams found that golfers whose forearms are shorter than their upper arms need to swing more around their body, getting the club shaft to a “flatter” position at the top of the backswing. Players with longer forearmsshould elevate the club in a more upright position.”

Another article not done by Adams says very similar things:

The easiest way to think about this is that if the forearm is longer than the upper arm, the hands will ride higher and farther out, so they should come down on a steeper plane than if they were shorter. If the upper arm is longer and the forearm is shorter, then the hands will ride lower and closer to the body. That will produce a more shallow delivery plane.”

The "aha" moment with the right settings with the weight and grind aren't just for good golfers. @Pmookie is a significantly better golfer than me, but I had an aha moment too. I am a 20+ handicapper but was making center contact and hitting everything at the flag on the range during my fitting, with the weight in the toe. With the other weight settings, I had what I would consider acceptable results, but not nearly as good as weight in the toe.

I also measured out as side-on based on the lower arm/upper arm ratio and also arm fold pattern. However, based on my swings, the fitter said I swing a bit on the shallower side than what my profile would suggest and i was best fit into the T grind.

My wrist to elbow = 11" / elbow to shoulder = 14"... recipe for flatter.

I used to have a very upright, Nicklaus "golf my way" swing in my younger days. But past age 40, it got tough to maintain.

Got a swing redo about 2000, and plane has been flatter since. Seems I get more whip through ball with flatter plane, easier to stay on balance during downswing.

This needs to be stickied.....I don't know where.....but it's worth it for the Adams wisdom

What a great review.  Thanks for dropping the link in the other thread.  It's pretty amazing when you realize how much you were leaving on the table with some of the most important clubs in the bag. It's a real game changer and that's not very common when it comes to wedges.  Gives us mortals the ability to have wedges spec'd out for us without having a tour card.
