Hello All

Looking for Some Srixon ZX7 on course reviews.  I know they are great in the Sim and in testing but looking for some real reviews

Anyone compare to T100 / T100s or 770?

What are the flight characteristics of the stock Modus 120 Shaft?

The Looks / Size are perfect but there is nowhere to try these around here.

Almost 100 pages of comments combined in the Srixon 2020 Irons, ZX7 Iron Review and ZX5 vs ZX7 threads - all on the first two pages of this forum.  See Srixon custom catalog for chart comparing Modus 120 with other shaft options.

thanks so do you have a review? I’ve read most of that lots of fitting and simulator talk

There are a lot of on-course and on-grass commentary. What do you want to know? Most  people love them. Will you? Depends on a lot of factors. I’ve never hit them on a sim or mat, they certainly work better for me than previous HMP or i210 but that’s my swing. Turf interaction is particularly good for me on grass and I find I hit the zx7 better than the zx5, others find the reverse.

Best way to do it is read the various threads backwards (newest pages first, then go to previous) - the more recent posts have on-course comments.

Would love to help you out but I bought mine in February. And have a grand total of 2 rounds with them!

First it was the shipping delays, now in a COVID lockdown.

f***.

I’ve had mine for around two months and have played 8 rounds with them. Long story short, I’d buy them again if I was given a mulligan. It’s my first Srixon iron and the feel is fantastic and I’m a big fan of the way the irons interact with turf.  I've got the ZX5 in a 5 iron and the rest are ZX7.  Just a great set of irons. My .02.

I have absolutely nothing bad to say about these. I have been swinging it well lately and the irons have been everything I hoped they would be and some. They are one of the better feeling clubs I have ever hit, they are long and very forgiving. I mentioned in another thread that I am constantly impressed at how far the ball flies even on a mishit.

I don't consider myself to be overly steep but I'm not shallow either. I take a very neutral divot and the sole gives me no issues. You read a lot of people talk about how you need to be super steep to benefit from the V sole but I do not find that to be true.

I played T100's for a while and if you prefer a thin top line and more compact blade size, you will prefer the look of the T100. Srixon's win on feel and performance and forgiveness is awfully close although I think the Srixon's give you a bit more confidence as they look friendlier behind the ball.

i ordered a set

Stock modus 120 3-PW

I think im starting to need a little more help than the T100 gives.  These are slightly bigger and will likely give me a bit more confidence.

Any who is switching over to Srixon for the 1st time I'm don't doubt the enthusiasm of owning them but for those who played the previous model here is what many are saying

I went back to my 785's from the zx7. Better distance,

The feel is better with 785, I think they are easier to hit and nicer to look at.

Just curious as to why the 785's never got the attention that the newer ZX 7's are receiving? Sounds like if you would save some money on a set of 785's and have a better set. Usually you don't hear how much better a previous model is over a newer one. Srixon has put out some serious equipment over the last several years

There’s only so much you can do to change the actual performance of a one-piece forged iron head that hits certain popular specs and visual cues. They aren’t reinventing the wheel season to season. It’s a subtle evolution.

I think the ZX series got more attention because the cosmetics and name are so different. After going 745 > 765 > 785 they ran out of numbers and started a new series. They finally got the attention they deserved, but they aren’t all the different from the earlier ones.

I have a set of 765’s on steel and 785’s on graphite. Like ‘em both.

+1 for playing a different shaft.

I play these with the c-tapers in a 120 S. If I was playing “point and shoot” full swing with every club down the bag for maximum distance, I probably would have gone with stock as I was actually getting a bit more distance with the modus 120 than the c-tapers (despite the KBS five more yards claim), but I definitely have more control with the c-tapers.

make sure the lie angle specs work for you before just buying stock. They were more upright down the bag than my handmedown MG CB-1007s and the JPX 919 HM pros and they just weren’t comfortable in hand on the course (after being amazing at the sim). I needed to go one degree flat for everything and once I did it was like a completely different club and I felt I could really swing after it

I have about 20-25 rounds on them and still loving them. I went back and forth on the ZX7's and ZX5's for a bit and for me i did not really see any big advantages with the 5's so i stuck with the 7's and happy i did.  I kept the stock shaft in them and again for me i think it is the correct shaft.

Couldn’t agree more here.  Although I went with modus 125 stiff hard stepped once these have been the best Irons I have played.  Came from mizuno mp59 to the ZX7s.  Have almost 40 rounds in and dropped from a 6.9 to a 4.6.  Not all due to ball striking but my strokes games on approach have improved by over 1 stroke according to Arccos.

Just over 2 weeks in ZX7 P-4, Modus 105 X and couldn't be happier.  Index down and just about to break through to single digit cap although my iron ball striking is the best part of my game by far.  Performance, feel and forgiveness is perfect for me.  I will always have a soft spot for my Gen 1 P790's but it is nice to get some distance control back with my irons.

I've owned the Z745's, Z785's and currently have the ZX7's (all w/ Modus 120 shafts) and the ZX7's are the best looking of the bunch and to me the play and feel the best.

Broke 80 for the first time w/ my zx5/7 combo set. Have developed a confidence in them that I've never had w/ previous irons. Great sticks and the only reason I would NOT highly recommend them is I'll be ordering a back-up set at some point and don't need you clowns pushing my wait time out 48709483584739472935 weeks. LOL

I tried out the ZX5 and ZX7 with the modus 120S and 105X in each head. It wasn't surprising that I liked the 105X given other shafts I've matched with, but I was surprised that the ZX5 didn't offer any more forgiveness or length or accuracy or any other positive benefit for me. I didn't try the 120X this time because I've disliked it previously and all signs are pointing to the lighter weights being the best fit.

Initially I was wondering whether I'd want to split a set 8-PW or maybe just the 4 and 5 iron positions, but now I'm thinking a full set of ZX7 is the right call. Unfortunately my shop has not seen a single ZX utility yet, so that aspect is a mystery. I'd kind of like to get the 2-utility for a driving iron, but I don't know what shaft I'd want or what weight is ideal for me in a 40" club. I'd use the 105x if I did a 4-iron utility, but beyond that I think I want lighter.

I play 125x in my irons and recently picked up a ZX 2 iron and I put a 105x in it. Total distance is similar to my TS2 16.5, but that is dependent on a good amount of roll. It’s an awesome setup for a driving iron, I’d be tempted to see what a graphite shaft would do in it, but I honestly can’t see getting a lot more distance out of it.
