Congrats to Patrick, but there's definitely a dark cloud over the finish of this tournament.

 

John Rahm's situation shows how silly and absurd the past 15 months have been. He's not sick, is exhibiting no symptoms, and is clearly in good health having walked ~9 miles while running away from the rest of the field in this golf tournament. While the PGA had rules in place that were followed, I don't think these asinine rules are above criticism. 

 

The fact that a perfectly healthy athlete is forced to withdraw 3/4 of the way through and lose their essentially locked in ~$1.7MM over an asinine rule is absurd. Hopefully this is a wakeup call for some to how absurd things have gotten.

Perhaps relevant because Rahm would likely very easily be $1.6 million ahead right now if he had adopted the same risk management precautions?  In that same vein, if a caring individual knew that he had potentially been exposed, would he have shaken hands with other players over the first three days of play?  This is all not just about ourselves.  It is about others and how we would want them to consider our health as well as their own.   It’s not rocket science, but it is science.

It was CBS but that is kinda funny even though an asterisk means a playoff win

They did that to denote that it was a playoff win. 

 

Well, that's what CBS did on their coverage, so I guess I can't positively speak for NBC's broadcast.

Rahm was making millions with the best access to testing etc. while millions of others were dying, losing jobs and/or in quarantine. PGA protocols enabled him to do that.

 

Like it or not they had the rules laid out and he tested positive.

People are pointing out that if he got the vaccine, a process that hundreds of millions of men and women have participated in safely, he would have been able to finish and nearly certainly win.

 

I speculate that he’s kicking himself for not taking 15 minutes to get his arm stuck by a tiny needle and how big the consequences were.

Every post is moderated. Disinformation doesn’t make it in the marketplace of ideas.

Right. I’m not at all saying they’ve changed the rule to get Rahm out.  He knew.  I just think it’s a protocol for protection in name only since they aren’t quarantining all his contacts.   They need to grow a set and require vaccines and face that blowback , or just stop with the testing.  
 

I truly don’t get the testing anyway at this point.  My wife works in a hospital.  In a surgery center.  She has not been required to be tested.  Not once.  They only require it if you miss work with symptoms to return.  
 

if we aren’t testing healthcare workers daily.  Why test golfers daily ? If the vaccine works , then those vaccinated are good. And The rest are also good per their choices. ( acceptance of  risk )  At the end of the day I just hate double standards , or policy that is for show vs actual merit.  Notice how nobody seems worried for John’s health or recovery.  Nobody said “ I sure hope  he pulls through “.  They instead counted the days until the us open , so that they could  say he could play there for sure.  So In 10 days or so they expect him to be us open ready.  That’s how concerned they are for his well being.  Anywho.  It’s a tired subject.  I’m going to try to drop it.  Peace 😎 brother.

It's not about Rahm feeling no effects. It's about passing it on to someone (about 40 % are not symptomatic) and they have symptoms, perhaps severe, or in worst case, fatal.

 

2.390 people were admitted to hospitals last week.

 

362 people died yesterday.

 

76% of people who were admitted to hospitals and have "recovered" from Coivd experience one of more lingering symptom for at least six months.

 

I can't believe that I have to type this out.

He signed on the line for this. All the PGA player agreed to this. Even Rahm is not arguing this. Maybe it's not so absurd all over the country, maybe not, maybe only where you don't live.

 

Congrat to Patrick Cantlay seems the like only putts he made all day were the clutch ones to come back and win. 🙂

At least Rahm wasn't leading a major by 6 after 3 rounds and had to withdraw. He'll get over this, would have been tough to get over that.
