Need help validating P7TW set

Hello everyone,

 

I’m new to using eBay for golf equipment and didn’t realize counterfeits are so abundant for golf equipment. I’ve already purchased the P7TW set and after comparing images, I’m thinking they’re fake.

 

Will you guys please help me by taking a look at this listing? Thanks in advance!

I do not see the true temper dynalite gold s300 shaft listed by Taylormade as an option to order from their website?

Was the TW box included in the sale?

Would be valuable to have closeups of the serial numbers and the hosel Taylormade writing to check fonts.

What about an order packing slip?

 

Do a search in the Deal/No Deal Forum for details on what to check....several Threads in there about the P7TW irons.

Did you pay using PayPal? They will cover you if fake. Seller must prove it.

I appreciate the feedback! Thank for the suggestions. I finished reading some info about problems with counterfeit clubs being sold on eBay and now I’m meticulously looking over fake and authentic pictures of P7TW. The font on the 9 iron and 4 iron stamping just look a little off to me. I just wanted to see if anyone can  point out any flaws or if I’m just looking for stuff that’s not there.

Seller says he purchased them for a golf course shop and doesn't have the receipt.

No, I used ebay's card payment system to save an extra $5. May just have to wait to take better pictures and get more opinions then.

The seller seems legit, if you don't have them yet, don't sweat it. Otherwise just hit up Taylormade with the info.

Not looking good I'm afraid - the giveaway would be those shafts for a start (possible reshaft but seems an odd choice for those irons) and the lack of a receipt of some kind is a little bit of an issue. 

 

Additionally the 6 iron from the TM site here P7TW shows a different number of grooves on the 6 iron...

 

Hopefully there are some explanations but at this stage I think they're fakes.

Unfortunately, that’s why I made the purchase. It appears there’s quite a few golf sellers with thousands of good reviews but sell fake items according to those with a better trained eye for equipment.

I appreciate the response and explanation. I was worried that was the case with reshafting fake heads.

 

I think if you look at this listing, where the seller isn’t afraid to show all the images that would indicate authenticity. The font for the 9 is different I think and the 4 as well from the set I purchased.

I'm not too worried about the number of grooves compared to the TM site. I looked at some in person pictures of the clubs and they all have more grooves than what that TM picture shows. They're like the old grooves that Nike used to use. However, that mini top groove on what looks like the 6 iron is a bit concerning to me, it just looks out of place.

Does that really help? Can't they just copy a known serial number, then TM can say "yes, that's a correct serial number" but still doesn't help him in this case.

Always worked for me.   I’m sure taylormade has a pretty accurate data base of limited production clubs and who they were sold to with what options.

They actually look real to me but why are the serials different? Is that normal with this set?

Red flag is when they say they won them in a tournament and don’t really want them. I think original listing states that he won them
