I'm just saying, I'm surprised how hard it is to get a ticket to an event that is acres of land to fit people on. This isn't like a super bowl area with pretty limited seating, it's acres of land. When you watch the tournament, there are tons and tons of people yet you hardly see people get selected in the lottery for decades in a row.

I got selected in 2014 and 2018. You’d be surprised at how many people are on the grounds during the tournament and it’s not like they’re all stationary(relatively) like in a stadium

that’s exactly what I’m saying. There are tons of people there because it’s a golf tournament with acres of land to put people on unlike a super bowl arena, yet pretty much all the posts are of people get rejected from the lottery for decades it seems. The majority of tickets have to be coming from other sources than the lottery. A golf tournament is not that hard to get a ticket too because of all the area to fit people on, I’ve never had problems and I’ve been to Ryder cups.

I was trying to point out there’s lots of people on the property and not as much empty space as you think. Holes are close together and viewing areas that don’t encroach on the actual course are full

The Masters is not the Phoenix Open or the Super Bowl or the Ryder Cup.  The amount of Patrons are limited because the tournament committee doesn’t want an overly congested event.  I went for the practice round in 2015 and I can tell you there were a lot of people all over the course.  Several holes were extremely packed while there were a lot of people walking around the course.  What ever the number of practice round tickets are being offered I think it is at the maximum number.  Any more then the rounds would be overly congested.

Look at the odds of winning tickets in the lottery. Actual numbers are unknown so this is hypothetical. Let’s say 30,000 tickets are available for the 3 practice round days. That’s 90,000 tickets. Each winner can buy up to 4 tickets, but let’s say the average buy is 3 tickets. That means 30,000 “winners” each year. Assume 900,000 entries. That means your odds of winning are once in 30 years.

well doing a little research and it explains why its so hard. It's estimated Masters only allows around 50,000 on practice rounds and 30-35,000 on actual tournament days. Compare that to PGA championship in 2019 with more than 200,000 and you have your answer why it's hard to win on the lottery.

Yep. The 50,000 gets pretty small when you take out the tickets that are not part of the lottery (member tickets, lifetime ticket holders, guest of players) Then you get 4 tickets if drawn. 50,000 become 10,000 or less winners (X4tickets). Not sure how many entries come in but I would guess over a million now with the online system so like 1/100 odds - or maybe even less 1% depending on how many application you think go in.

Nope but over the course of my 16-18 attempts at tickets I’ve probably lived in about 7 or 8 different zip codes.

They don’t allow transients!

Hawk makes a good point.  Patrons for the Augusta Masters Tournament are selected, not picked.

The committee appreciates(correction, adores) stability and righteousness.

What's more likely, becoming Secretary of State/the CEO of a Fortune 100 company/managing $30B AUM and schmoozing an invite to Augusta the old fashioned way or winning this lottery?

You just need to know some higher ups, don't need to be a CEO etc. There are plenty of tix/passes exchanging hands there

It starts with being in the right zip code.

Care to share what the right zip codes are?

So I got an email in regards to 2022 Masters Tickets..

Does that mean I was picked in lottery?

I ordered 2 tickets for Sunday, but I'm not sure if that means I'm in..

It is probably easier to finish in the world top 50 in the rankings to get into the Masters than to win tickets in the lottery.

They are very selective.

What do you think is the method of their selection process?  Do you think certain areas benefit from that and is there a reason?
