My concern is more that Mike Whan left too much money on the table when he negotiated with the sponsors.

My hope is the new commissioner will do a better job.

How would you know?

Have you ever been in attendance in any meetings when the LPGA and the sponsors were discussing a new partnership and/or finalizing the tournament contracts?

Ya...that's what I thought....lol.

One doesn't have to live there to be a member. Buy a nice $500k home one state over, and with the $1 million you save you can join one of the clubs. 🙂

LOL.

You'd really want to live in San Fran.?...you can freeze your butt with Mark Twain...RIP.

Public courses are not abundant and somewhat expensive.

And you really want to live there where from April to Sept....you hands will be numb after 9 holes if you tee off in the morning.

I know you know.....cause you have played Harding and I think Presidio too....and I know you like to tee off between 6-7am.

Me...I'm a cheap***...so no dew sweeping for me.....cheap twilight green fees for me.🤣

Van City is beautiful....but as I get older...I hate Raincouver from Nov to Mar.

Ideally it shouldn't really affect play. While the caddie is busy stepping off distances from markers the player should be lasering the flag. I really doubt it will speed play.

This.

Ya...I bet the loop and player will only pull out the range finder after 2 MINUTES discussing the shot 1st....UGH.

OK...EVERYONE.

Who will be the 1st LPGA pro to pull out the range finder for a putt?....LOL.

LMAO

Candidate for post of the year.

We have a lot of Koreans here...so I can relate to this.

I've play a lot of golf with Koreans here and have made friends with a few and have never heard Ajumma....lol.

It was SoYeon's Puffer Jacket (or Gilet... vis-a-vis the Ajumma's puffer jacket & visor in the cartoon) that made me think 'ajumma' (or the michelin mascot)

... but seriously only in jest, SYR = one of my favourite LPGA gals!

1) Btw despite all these SYR posts, I actually like her style and find her classy... Heck she's one of my picks in the LPGA contest we have here.

She's down to earth btw -- even goes grocery shopping with her mom and went down on her knees to clean/scrub the floor of her Dallas home after she came back from Korea during the covid hiatus.... I've yet to personally meet her but I don't think what Ive heard are exaggerations...

2)Ingee Chun is really nice - Even her manager is super nice...  That Im sure other people here in the forum knows and personally saw...

1) SYR is super nice.

Shortly after the 2012 CWO I played in a golf tournament...sat down to dinner and a guy played in the CN CWO pro-am with SYR...he said SYR was the PERFECT pro-am professional...he also said he met Creamer and didn't like her...no surprise.

2) If it was Kylie Pratt...she's super NICE...though she hasn't been In Gee's road manager for quite a while.....Kylie use to be Hee Young Park's loop for a while...The Rocket is SUPER NICE too.

If it was a guy...it might have been her coach...Dr, Won Park.

In Gee is UNBELIEVEABLY NICE and so APPROAHABLE....I've only watched her once at the 2016 KPMG...she always acknowledges the fans and always looks at the gallery when walking by.

Can confirm.  I came upon Ingee at the Gary Player Course in Palm Desert about 3 Christmas ago.  She was at the range and I was so astounded to see her Iwalked right up and said "Hellooooo Dumboooo!'  Literally like that.  She was super nice and she and her dad or coach (not sure) had a good laugh.

Yup...In Gee would have LOVED you calling her DUMBO....she would know you're a FANBOY cause you knew her nickname.

My gut instinct was to pick Sei Young for the win, but she seems to have lost her edge. Wild off the tee, and a balky putter.

I'm going to go with Minjee here. It's time for her to step back into the conversation. She hasn't done a whole lot this year, but does play well at Lake Merced.

Wild off the tee and a balky putter?  Sign me up.  SYK wins this week.

Until the back nine collapse, Lexi played some of the best golf I've seen.  She could have been five or eight shots better if she didn't miss many short putts.

Obvious, all eyes will be on Lexi this week, will she continue her good plays or did the collapse take the wind out of her sails.

Also, both Lydia Ko and Patty Tavatanakit cooled down from recent hot paces.  Will they rebound?

Forty-eight scores have been posted and it's decisively over par; we maybe heading for another tournament where the winning score is single digit under par.

It maybe the dense air or dense rough; courses around San Francisco don't give a break.

Like I mentioned up thread, this course is no joke, sorta like last week (Easier by a lot though) players have a hard time putting 4 under par rounds together.  You gotta concentrate and execute to win here IMO.

No surprise there. In 2019 the six out of eleven players who finished T8 or better shot over par in the first round. Two shot 76. The top three finishers had round of 72, 73, and 74 to start the week. The course is no joke.

Lol. Well, "Dumbo" is displayed quite prominently on her staff bag. A real fanboy has a photo in her security binder. 🙃

The real question is if you are in the REAL LPGA security BINDER.....lol.

I saw one of these binders...but not the content.....some guy....from Golf Canada had a binder in his hand when he was doing an orientation for some volunteers at the 2015 CWO.

If you are in this BINDER....I'm guessing the picture in the BINDER is your WRX avatar.🤣

On course reporting by Jerry Foltz, BJ Wie, Bo Wie.

Vegas odds UNDER/OVER has been to EIGHT.....that the Golf Channel commentators will mention the LPGA Hoodie during the 3 hour coverage.

Whew.  Getting a good dose of Wie West now.  And, even better, I didn't know she was paired with Rachel Heck.  Heck yeah!   (Please play better Rachel)

And Albane Valenzuela is getting a bunch of time too.  Good times.  All this and we're not getting shorted on shots of Lexi, Brooke and the Queen.

Interesting how many birdies Lydia is making these days.  She's third in birdie average per round and above her prior high (2015) while GIR are down.  Today's round is a wash / lost in the middle of the pack but still made 5 birdies.

Still trying to rid herself of the Lead Poisoning.🤣😂

Too bad Butch is retired and not taking new students.

Lots of Alison GIMMEE Lee sightings...it was a good day.

And if Mike Davis makes a few calls into the Golf Channel Execs tonight we even might see Crazy Lucy Li on Friday's coverage now that the Michelle Wie West show has ended.🤣

I'm neutral on Lead Poisoning.  She won a lot with him in the initial stage so to me it wasn't the swing.  And ultimately I blame (or shift the responsibility to) the player for any changes they do or do not make.

I also think it's clear there is no perfect swing.  Or at least people with more perfect swings don't seem to win any more than others.  I would also contend the (top) player's determination and work ethic mean more than anything.  Most can't keep it up for more than 24-36 months (or get complacent).  I.e. RYU's swing under McCormick was supposedly so much better.  Length and ability to move it both ways.  I think she was just determined to win after being shutout for a few years.  Put everything into it for 24 months and reached her peak.  Subsequently, practice declined and then the ball started going everywhere.  I'm not super technically but I think her swing got flatter/more around her body and there was a lot more timing required to square up the clubface at impact.
