NEW Skytrak 2021 Fall 2021 Release Prediction

Any whispers on this?

Gotta think that if something isn't announced soon, it's likely not going to happen.

From a business perspective I could understand them holding off on a new product due to the covid boom. But seems like they would have announced something by now if they actually had something in the pipeline.

I share the same opinion.  If they did have a close to mass production product we probably would have heard about it at the golf show in Jan.  Since we didn't, I'm guessing we are at least 6 to 12 months away from either hearing about the new skytrak or getting the first shipments of it.

Uni appears to be a third upcoming camera based simulator (will likely see that this winter or next spring).  I'm hoping a few more camera based ones come to the market in the coming year or two.  GC3 increased their price $500 due to inflation.  I stand by my statement that fake golf shouldn't cost more than real golf.

I wonder if they can improve the outdoor performance with the current tech they are using. I am not sure how gc 2 or 4 or 3 perform outside, I have only ever use inside at a fitting.

It is the one thing that I am hesitant with in buying a skytrak. I practice in my backyard outside and there is so much mixed info with performance outside.

I realize that I’m responding to an old post, but I keep hearing how skytrak doesn't work well outside. I had one for the 30 day trial and used it exclusively outdoors in full sun, hitting into a net. Mine worked flawlessly. The only reason I returned it is that I was facing significant shoulder surgery and knew that I wouldn’t be able to swing for more than 6 months. Getting close to swing time, so I’ll be ordering skytrak again soon. Love the Garmin ecosystem and would prefer the R10 because of that, but reported results are so inconsistent and I’d rather have accurate info.

Disappointing we haven't heard anything about a new skytrak coming anytime soon.

Good news is that uneekor posted on their IG that their portable "eye mini" will be released this fall.

Let's hope the eye mini is everything we hoped the skytrak 2 would be.

Odds are it'll be more expensive.

Absolutely. Just trying to maintain a level of rationality since people tend to jump on hype trains with overblown expectations.

The R10 was going to kill Skytrak/M+, the BLP was going to be as good a Quad for 2k and no subs, etc.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Eye Mini is targeting the mid-level market to compete with GC3 and priced slightly below QED.

Seems like Skytrack is just giving up.  I was considering buying one 3 years ago, but was worried about an imminent new release.  Now, there are many options and ST is just bleeding marketshare.

Just got this email

Dear Valued SkyTrak Customer,

Since the launch of SkyTrak in 2014, the goal has always been to provide customers with the tools they need to improve their game. As a result, SkyTrak has helped tens of thousands of golfers across the world not only improve their game but have more fun playing golf.

In keeping with those original goals, we’re pleased to announce that GOLFTEC, the world leader in golf improvement, and SkyTrak have signed a definitive agreement for GOLFTEC to acquire SkyTrak. The anticipated acquisition builds on each company’s powerful reputation and shared mission to provide golfers with the insights needed to track performance, have more fun and play better golf.

In the days and weeks ahead, we’re excited to share more details for what this means for the SkyTrak community including how GOLFTEC will invest in enhancing the SkyTrak user experience.

In the short term, we assure you that there will be no disruptions to your service, customer support or renewal process.

As we enter this next chapter for SkyTrak, we look forward to continuing the journey with you. Stay tuned for what’s next!

Does the acquisition of Skytrak make it more likely we will see an updated version down the road?

I thought I read previously that one of the main reasons Skytrak wouldn't/couldn't come up with an update was due to corporate hurdles.

I thought it was that the partnership with Rapsodo ended and they were responsible for the hardware.

I'm no authority on the matter, though.

That sounds correct. I couldn't remember the details.

Just seems like golftec would only make the acquisition if they had some future plans with them.

Although I suppose their plans could be commercial.
