OC Maryland - Rum Pointe

Going to the beach in August with friends for a few days and got my permission slip signed by my wife for 1 round.  Just booked Rum Pointe.  I have never played there and am looking forward to it.

OC is my former home town. RP is a great course but not one of my favorites. Lighthouse is a must play, but damn hole #5 (I think?), Par 3 hitting into the bay and I've seen 7i and 3w hit at that green. Man O'War was my go to. I did live right across the street from Bayside, but just hated that course. It's a nice course, well kept... it's just a Jack course and it's so mean for no reason.

Agree with posters above,  Lighthouse over Rum, but Rum is excellent.    Down there I played Rum, Lighthouse, both Glenn Riddle courses, and  River Run.  Nearby played Baywood Greens.

Ranking:  Light House, Rum, Baywood Greens, War Admiral, Man O' War, River Run.  I can't remember which hole it was 15 or 16 at Rum, but I called it the Crater Green.  Green is surround by bunkers and mounds, making it hard to see the green/pin from the fairway.  I do remember Rum being breezy near the water.

Light House is one of the best courses I have ever played, but can be pricey.

Looking to get away from the wives for a day of golf.  Played Bayside before and it was in excellent condition.  This year my nephew is playing and he is new to the game so we are looking for something less expensive, but still a good track for my brother in law and I who are n 8 hcps..
Looking at Ocean Pines or River Run.  Both are reasonably priced in the afternoon ($60+).  Bayside was 120.00 after 2:00.  Plus I didn't think it would be a good track for a 20 hcp.
Any help / recommendations would be much appreciated.  We are staying on the beach right on the border of MD and DE so not opposed to heading a bit north if its worth it.

Head over to Eagles Landing as its a good track for around $65 in the afternoon.  It's not on the same level as Bayside/Rum/Lighthouse but it's much cheaper and I would choose it everyday over Ocean/River.

I've played them both, You can't go wrong with either one. I would say I enjoyed Rum Pointe more. Lighthouse is more challenge for sure

Lighthouse Sound has a 1500 ft cart bridge and it's always annoyed me that it's between holes 8 and 9 and the course got clogged up right after it both times I played it.

I just booked Lighthouse Sound and Rum Pointe for August. Also playing a local course called the Rookery that I used to play every summer growing up since we always stay in Dewey Beach - not a great course by any means but enjoyable and nostalgic. Looking forward to a great week!

Played Rum Pointe last October, 9am Saturday tee time.  Group in front was a bunch of partiers that must of been playing for money.  They had a tape measure out on every hole and took FOREVER on the greens. 2hr 50min to play front 9.  Saw ranger at the turn to see about speeding them up, his response was "this is a resort course, I am not here to enforce pace of play."  Finished round in 5:40.  Great course, but I will never pay a dollar to play there again.
