Graphite equivalent to Modus 120 S

Recommended Posts

There are some old threads on this topic, but there have been quite a few shaft releases over the last few years.

I fit well into Modus 120 S shafts. I'd like to have a set in graphite that feels and plays similar.

I have a set with NV Pro mlti 105's in stiff and they fit me in a similar way. They play a tad softer if anything.

I've been trying a set with Recoil 110 F4's, and the jury is still out on those (though I'm currently having the lofts, lies and swing weights checked on on that build...not so sure they are standard spec). I can make a good turn and load the shaft, but it seems like I need to really be deliberate about it. Might be a fit but seems like an adjustment would be necessary. I'll give them some time.

There is no graphite equivalent to the Nippon 120.  The Nippon's are really soft in the butt and stiff in the tip.  A very unique shaft.

In many cases, if you are going graphite, you don't have to stick with the same weight but can go much lighter. I would try recoil 95 too if you haven't.

When you say deliberate, do you mean you have go after it?  I still have my Recoil proto 125 F5 and I didn't find them difficult to load properly.  Modus 120 tends to have a higher trajectory.  The graphite equivalent would be the regular Recoils in terms of flight.  Feel different story.

And everything states they are the exact opposite shafts.....but the damn launch monitor tells me they are basically identical--- for my swing

And they feel the same at impact - to me

I suppose I mean I’ve got to make a technically efficient swing to feel like I’m really loading them. When I do I can sense the loading and kick and see higher longer ball flight. But if I make anything less than an efficient swing they don’t give me quite as much as the Modus.

A part of me thinks this might be good, at least to use from time to time, to get me in the mindset of making as good a swing as possible on every shot.

It's the release....if your holding the Recoil release - they under perform. It's actually why I went up to F5.....release correctly and these are beautiful and as pain free as I've ever felt

Edit: think that's why the 120 perform so differently, yet feel & produce the same-- release point
