Best ball for green side spin?

Don't know why you are being hostile. The left dash is even higher compression and spins less than the V1X. I don't see how higher compression necessarily leads to higher spin off the driver. Bridgestone's own higher compression ball is similar.

I'm not hostile but you're making me out to be a "compression is all" guy when I've never been. I said it tends too. Is the V softer than X1? yes. Is the B XS ? yes. Do they both spin less? yes. Back in the day before CAD and polymers, they used compression on wound balls to raise or lower spin, that's a fact. They still make soft balls for slower swingers. Why? They also make the Noodle which seems high compression, rock. What's right? Like I said it depends. There''s trade offs on all of it. If you think hard balls are the way to golf nirvana, have at it. I can pick up 5 yards going with a softer less spinny ball. Already did the homework but I like green side performance of tour balls & play a modest 6300 yard layout, so x1 or XS are it for now.

I'm not making you out to be anything and even said they are using compression to alter spin off certain clubs. But it's not a fact that a higher compression ball spins more off the driver, the left dash was an example to illustrate. As far as what's right, play whatever you like, I hit a left dash farther myself but play a V1X because it feels better to me.

On old wound balls, 90 vs 100 they most certainly did.

I'm curious as to why no one has suggested Chrome Soft X so far for greenside spin and control. That would be my go to option barring the cost.

I suspect the Tour B XS is not in fact lower compression than Pro V1x but can't find any published measurements comparing the two balls directly.
 

You do realize that manufacturer advertised "compression" numbers are not remotely comparable across brands, right?

I would assume my golf spy will have a comparison in the new ball test due out soon
