Mizuno MP60

Hi All,

 

I just picked up these absolutely mint MP60's 3-PW with DG S300 shafts with STD L/L/L and original grips for about USD $300.

I live in Australia and am looking to re-start playing golf again and joining a club in the next month or so. I used to play and got down to about 7 HC when I gave up about 15 years ago.

I still have an original set of MP32's in near mint condition that I bought new in 2007, that I have put in the cupboard until I get my swing back.

I needed a bit more forgiving iron as I have been struggling to hit my MP32's consistently and thought that these irons should suit what I am after. I recognise that these irons are for a better handicap and player, but I also recognise that these are also more forgiving than my MP32's. Plus both of these sets have the exact same shafts DG S300's and I can potentially mix and match the sets depending on how I hit them. There is definately more offset in the 60's compared to my 32's. So here is hoping it all pays off...

 

The person I purchased them off said he had swapped out the shafts but never really used them as he ended up using another set instead. He saved the original shafts and put the original shafts back in for this sale, but apparently put new ferrules in at the same time to give them a little bit of colour...

The MP60s were great irons.  Coming from MP32, the cut muscle techology and feel will be familiar to you.  Those look like they are in great shape!  

 

I still have a set of 32s in the garage and game them on occasion.  There are few better feelings in golf then flushing those irons.  

 

Give us an update after you have a few rounds in the books, on the difference between the 60s and the 32s.

They look like a beefier 32 for sure, I bet they play lovely. Can't wait to hear what you think, I just swapped my MP-32 6 iron for an MP-68.

I also picked up a set of MP60s as well when I returned to the game last season (beginning of the pandemic) after a long hiatus, and absolutely love them.  They are not nearly as good a shape as those!! Nice pick up.

 

I was playing Titleist 981s, so I actually reduced the offset, but the look of the MP60s are much more confidence inducing for me.  The contrast of the polished and matte finish on the face is so nice, and helps with my alignment—especially compared to my old set.

 

I say, don’t let manufacturers dictate what set you should play or not play based on your handicap... If the look and feel inspire a relaxed confidence then they are for you! Also sub’ed to hear about your experience with these.

I’ve gamed these for a while and didn’t even remember until I read this thread! 😂 btw. Am I the only one that can’t stand the look of a ferrule that isn’t solid black???

I bought dual silver rings to spruce up my KZG's and got single gold rings for my BDG's because why not. 

 

I can't see spending more than a buck for show, but I thought they were a touch classier than the basic black.

Those are some sweet irons.  I still miss my MP 62 I gamed for years back in the day.  Mid-2000's Mizuno player's CBs were so great.  Enjoy!

I play an MP60 3 iron at the top of my bag, and I love it. It's so pure when struck well, and much more forgiving than my MP33s (a second set I rarely use). Surprisingly long too. You'll definitely be happy with these.

I picked up a mint set of 60 heads on here that were completely redone in satin chrome. They look amazing and are like new. Remind me of my first "real" set, the 57s, which is kinda what I was hoping for. Had them shafted up and fully intended to use them, but a set of mint MP5s landed in my lap while I was waiting to get these done, and the 5s are too amazing for me to not keep them in the bag. 

 

As someone else said above, the 2000s Mizuno cavity backs are amazing. 

 

Not sure what to do with these now, but might just hang onto them and see how my mood changes in future.

Jealous. I passed on a mint set of MP53's the other day, seeing another cool older mizuno set has me wondering if they're still there though!!

They are great sticks!  I haven't played them in years, but I still have mine.  I just can't let them go.  They have the Precision Project X 6.0's in them.  Great feeling clubs.

The 60s and 32s are all time greats.  Mix and match.  IMO as good as anything else out there today.

Probably not, but I really like the colored ferrules. BB&F makes so many beautiful colors. These look great. I like black with silver rings too.

I actually like the colour, it gives them a bit of a pop and sets them apart.

 

I have still yet to hit them, I'm hoping that Wednesday I can get out for a little bit. I will keep you all in the loop on how they perform and how they compare to my MP32's...

I had a fully fitted set of MP32 and MP60 irons I bought new in 2005 and played until recently. As somebody else said, they're still as good as anything out there. I went P-8 in the 32 and 7-4 in the 60. The only thing I don't care for is the look of the PW from that era. I wound up combining SCOR wedges with that set and just went ahead and got a 47* to swap in for the PW.
