Smylie Kaufman

Kaufman's ball striking is not good right now. However looking at the leaderboard, a lot of pretty well known names that have had a lot of success on PGA tour shot big numbers the first two days as well. I'd bet Kaufman is playing well at his home course in practice, but can't get it together in tournament rounds.

He’s made 4 cuts oh tour since 2018 and 3 of those were in 18. I’d say he’s struggling anywhere that he’s playing

After rounds of 78 & 85 at Congaree on a miracle sponsors exemption, I think it’s about time someone tells Smylie Kaufman you can make an honest living selling insurance.

I think if you'd follow professional golf long enough you're always going to recognize names below the cutline, literally every week, that will leave you wondering "what in the heck happened to so-and-so?". ... And, while no offense to Mr. Kaufman, other than his unique middle name, he really hasn't had much of a professional career other than one good year five years ago.

But suggesting he should sell insurance, well, if you used that perspective on all tour pros, the fields would be pretty thin.

Harsh, but sadly true. I’m sure the thought has occurred to him.
I hope he can get it together. It has to hurt to be that good but not quite good enough.

I guess Matthew Wolff is next up on the list of “can’t miss” guys who flame out? Hopefully, not.

"Get dressed Spaulding, you're playing golf today."
" No I'm not Grandpa, I'm playing tennis."
"No, you're playing golf and you're going to like it."

There are ton of well known pros that are in the same state Kaufman is in struggling on Korn Ferry tour.  Not sure why he is the one that is singled out all the time. He is the golfwrx whipping boy. 😜

Probably because he was one of the 'brat pack' (i.e. JT, Jordan, Fowler, et al.)

He does seem to get a lot of flack on here. I’m not hating on the guy but wanted to point out just how much he is struggling

While there are plenty of pros struggling on various tours. I can’t think of a tour player who has a win within the last 6/7 years that holds 0 status anywhere at the moment

Golf man, it’s tough! Smylie will be OK. At the level he got to - a win on tour and the final group on The Masters on Sunday - there will always be corporate gigs for him to move into.

I know its different days, but same course in a tour event close enough...Mark Hensby shot 84 on Thursday with 10 penalty strokes for playing a non-uniform ball for 5 holes, and he beat Smylie's Friday score by 1.

Can anyone think of another tour pro that if you said "do you think you can beat this guys score from yesterday who got 10 penalty strokes" and the first tour pro couldn't do it?

I said the same thing about Spieth. Marriage is an inflection point and can be a (good & bad) distraction. I was criticized for saying it then (about Spieth), but it’s the truth: marriage is difficult. For some of these guys, you never know what demands or pressure is being put on these guys, and on their wives.  My (previous) profession, which was high risk/high reward, did not differ. Some wives & husbands were better at handling it than others, and it had a direct impact on performance (or PnL in my case).

John Wilson.

He's done nothing to contribute to the company since 2017. I saw him sitting in his cubicle recently, and he was slouching over his desk, looking at the Internet. He seemed like he was being very careful with his back . . .

When he first started with the company, he showed promise. He had ideas and was able to close the deal several times, winning new accounts and everyone thought he'd close some major accounts.

Maybe it's time for him to quit the insurance business and take up golf?

I liked this & then realized this is exactly what I'm doing right now...

Look at Rickie Fowler’s stats ( I just did ). Married in 2019, and all downhill since.

It happen to Dufner as well (through divorce). The list goes on.

You could argue, as Jack has many times, Barbara WAS THE KEY to his success.

I would bet if someone took the time to plot the annual earnings of a golfer, with an intersection of marriage (or divorce), there would be a statistically significant correlation between the two variables.

It’s just life. Wait until kids come along. Priorities change, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. We as fans often forget golf is a profession, just like any other. Some are willing to sacrifice everything for success, and others are at peace with less ( material or otherwise ).

Since the term millennial frequently ends up touching off a millennial vs. boomer back & forth, can we get some clarification on Millennial Life Counseling?

Is it a group of counselors (possibly but not necessarily millennials themselves) who provide life counseling specifically to millennials? Or is a group of millennial-age life counselors who provide life counseling to clients of all ages, including boomers? I'm not sure which way to interpret the name...

They offer a special best friend forever counseling program or SBFFCP for short.

As Liz says: "at Millennial Life Counseling, it all starts with a question.

What's the difference between a friend and best friend?

A best friend goes to Millennial Life Counseling gets two treatments, comes back and gives you one.

Currently offering a groupon: USE CODE 2-4-1 SBFFCP
