Anyone Still Gaming TM M3 Driver?

Recommended Posts

Been gaming a Taylormade M3 driver for the past few years but have been thinking about upgrading. Wondering if anyone is still gaming it? How does it compare to the current offerings - particularly in terms of forgiveness? Thanks.

Absolutely,  sim / sim2 couldn’t touch it in terms of consistency and distance.   I tried to kick my M3 out and it just keeps proving it’s better for me than anything out there.

If the head is set up with the weights back left and back right it’s super forgiving.   I have mine set in the most unforgiving setting but it gives me the best combo of flight/distance.

Still playing the M3 ... watch/listen to the TaylorMade commercials. They've given up on actual claims of improvement. Now it's just Rory, Tiger and Dustin standing around saying things like "looks great", "feels sweet", "wow, i bet that went a long ways" ... no facts, no figures, no data ... with COR and size limits, and without a major change in tech, they've maxed out the driver.

I just went back to the M3 440 after my G425 max cracked. I don’t know why I ever went away from it. Was hitting high baby draws today that were deeper than usual.

want to sell me the 425 max once the replacement head comes? I discovered the 400 max head this year and love it, but I’m wondering if the sliding weight on the 425 might help return my 15 yard fade.

I just got mine a few months back and so far so good. I added a heavier shaft that is cut to 44.5 and added 5g to the head.

My driver is not my best club but this has come a long way.

I still game my M3.  No plans of replacing it this year.  Honestly at this point if your driver has been properly fit to your current swing the performance gains are minimal.  If you just feeling like something new in the bag, then go for it.

Thanks. Figured assuming well-fit the distance gains between M3 and something newer wouldn't be big.  Was wondering however if some of the newer clubs offer better forgiveness due to continuing refinements in weight allocation, face tech, etc.

I’ve just swapped out of my M3 to a Sim 2 Max. For me the feel/sound in the Sim is much better, the M3 is a bit firmer and slightly more tinny in sound.

Some may not agree, but I find the Sim 2 Max slightly fade bias, especially in the standard loft setting.

Messing around with my son’s M3 head. It took him awhile to trust the M5 when he switched (same shaft)

I still may be on an m3 honeymoon - knocking out my G400 - but I was in two places yesterday I haven’t reached all season. And both were slightly uphill so not a matter of bounce and rollout

very solid feel on center impact. Kind of like all the old tm drivers

Tried one the other day that someone had added a 3rd weight to. That thing seemed like a rocket ship and i did'nt even touch the weights to try and dial it in further. Was a 9 degree head and lowered all the way but i was hitting high bombs. Might get it out of the shop and try to dabble more with it. Was certainly giving my PXG proto headaches.

I’d be open to that. Send me a PM so I have a reminder. I got my driver through club champion and I don’t know when it will arrive. I heard the sliding weight is great. For me I am able to hit draw and fade so I kept it in the middle. Happy to sell the brand new head at a cheaper rate.
