I’d say the goat can spot talent.

Plus Bubba is the exact demographic that made jordan a brand.  It wasn’t the now 20 somethings. It’s us 40-55 year olds .

Nothing like signing an athlete at the tail end of his career, years removed from his last major. I'm just hoping him wearing them can turn a few people off the brand, so I can actually get some when they drop.

Lol. What do they cost $3.74 each pair to make.  I don’t think fronting him shoes is a big deal.

I think it’s hilarious that you mentioned him.  I have a pair of jordan iv and v ...  I also don’t look like an extra from grease.   Bubba showed me I could wear the shoes I had as a kid playing basketball too.

I get it. It’s different perspectives.  I think the 20 something sneaker head is a well known view point.  I’m just trying to show that the OG guys can still wear them too , even if they don’t have full sleeves and  a mullet.

No offense meant by the way.  It’s just irks me a touch that the younger or hipper crowd wants to claim jordan shoes.   Whne it was us gym rats of the 80s and 90s that built it all.

I think it’s actually $2.75 a pair. Does he just have a “flow” deal (free merch. but no pay)?
I get what you’re saying. It shows all the guys in their 40s that grew up in the Jordan era, that it’s ok for them to wear them. I’m 48 and have all kinds of high-end “sneaker head” type shoes. And I personally don’t feel comfortable wearing J golf shoes. But that’s just me.

I’m on the fence. But sometimes I don’t it just because it seems to drive people nuts. Lol. Old and young.    Haven’t worn the 4s yet. But the 5s are probably the most stable shoes I’ve ever had.  Love the  high top support.  But too dang hot for SC summers and can’t wear in any moisture.  ( suede ) So it’s kind of pointless.  Addidas  ZG 21 gets the call for most rounds now.  They are great walking as the spikes don’t hurt my feet.

J was what, 40-41 when he played for the Wizards? Isn’t Bubba 41/42yo? IDK, made sense to me. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Haha

Right. But when Bubba and I were in junior high / high school it was bulls bulls bulls.  And we bought every shoe that came out.  I worked a job under the table to buy the patent leather 11s Pair in white And  a pair in red/black.   Wish I had kept them all.  🤦‍♂️

Exactly my point. Bubba wearing em now is Nike saying “and it’s still ok for you to wear them now”. I think it’s the same point you made! Haha

When I was into skating in the late 80s you could buy Jordan 1s at Big 5 (sporting goods store that sells lower end gear) for like $49.99. They had huge tables full of em. The exact shoe below… Yeah, wish I kept em all too!

Yeah, the original Jordans - particularly the black/blue and black/red colorway were huge in the skate scene. You'd see some Converse around but that was about it. Then Airwalk hit, Jordans got all funky, and skaters migrated to skate specific brands for a long time.

Now, of course, the Nike SB Janoski's are one of their top sellers across all lines. The SB Dunks are pretty much old school Jordans without the name. I personally prefer NB Numerics over pretty much anything these days.

I'm in my late 40's and still skate at least several times a week.

Yeah, frickin' Vans. I've never gotten along well with the traditional high tops. I like skating in the old school canvas low tops, and had a few pairs of the suede chukkas back in the day, but you ollie twice and they've got a hole in them.

I keep thinking I will try a pair of the "pro" old school low tops, but never get around to it. New Balance is where I am at these days.

Man. I remember the first pair of jordan 1s i ever saw. Heck the first Reebok pump too.  That was huge for a while.

I bought my first pair of jordan 1s second handed.  There was a store downtown that sold store returns and seconds/blemishes.  Called Gilbert’s.  I found a pair in my size one Saturday morning.  Like hitting the lottery.  Then the jordan 4 was the next one I wanted.  And one Saturday morning I got a ride to the shoe store money in hand.  They didn’t have my size.  To this day I never got a pair of those until the golf version this year.  My best friend had the first pair of 4s I ever saw.  And I was always secretly jealous of them.  I don’t remember what i got instead of the 4s.  Back then you didn’t just order your size. You went store to store looking.  I didn’t have a ride for that so I bought what I could get.  Next pair I got were the 6s in black suede.  That was a light weight pair of shoes.  Somewhere after that the penny hardaways white with the blue swoosh came to me , and then back to the jordan 11s.  I kept basketball shoes for a while and kept them nice as I would only wear them on the court. Never wore a pair out of the gym door.  Couldn’t afford to.  Anyway.  Sorry for the memory lane trip.

the original jordan 1 prices are high. But I’ve seen the black and red 11s ( original not the remakes ) go for used car prices.  Lol. I gave  both my pairs away when I out grew them.  I think they were 11.5. I wear 13 now. So wouldn’t work if I had them.

The low tops with the stripes on the sides were my go to back in the day.
