Outside of Chambers Bay, which the USGA ruined by apparently hiring goats to prep the course, I completely disagree.  Whistling Straits, Bethpage Black, Pebble Beach, Pinehurst, and Kiwaha Island last month are fantastic tracks that received universal praise.

I think the par 5's and long par 4 are excellent championship holes. The USGA cannot do anything right for some but this setup has a pretty good balance to it.

I'm watching featured groups on the free USGA app I loaded onto Roku.  I can also watch for free on the pga.com site and cast it to roku for big screen viewing.

 

Masters coverage was also free.  IIRC it was on the masters webpage and there were no commercials.  Augusta doesn't seem to really care about the money from broadcasting.

This course is awesome.  Just check out these mowing lines and the awesome movement in the fairways.  Architecturally stunning.

It’s a great balance of straight holes at different lengths.

I agree that Jacobsen is a horrible broadcaster. Like Curtis Strange and Justin Leonard, Jacobsen's commentary is mundane .

However, I guarantee you that Jacobsen's 30 plus year pro playing career, including more than 20 wins means he knows much about the golf swing. 

Regarding "science" , it is usually charlatan instructors who try to interject science to golf swing learning or practice, so if Jacobsen (or any other broadcaster) avoids scientific analysis of golf, that's a good thing.

I agree with Phil. Just showed the stands next to Jordan putting and most people filming him putting instead of watching it with their own eyes. You’re never ever going to watch that stupid video why don’t you experience the moment instead. A memory is better than watching life through a stupid phone screen.
