Arrest made at KFT Monday for one player physically assaulting another…

This seems like either the pettiest reason to get in a fight I have ever heard or there were quite a few more things said and we don't have the entire story.

I had (until I read this) really only heard of fights on a golf course in Florida, but of course Florida is where all the crazy stuff happens.

I had anger management issues in High School and even though I had a guy cough on purpose during my swing, jingling change while I was putting, and sitting his golf bag down really hard all during my swing, even my high school immature self never had a fight on a course.  In a parking lot after a match, yes, but on the course itself?

This is golf, those involved should go back to their shanties per Shooter McGavin.

So while coming to blows on the course is never acceptable (it isn’t settle the argument with good play on the course, if it can’t be solved that way take it to the parking lot or elsewhere). I’ll admit that I’ve been less than enthusiastic a few times looking for a playing competitors ball, sometimes if I think you’re just being a total jerk (for example berating and official and members at a Florida Open a la Tyler Hock) I’m not looking that hard for your golf ball. Other than sportsmanship is there any obligation for a player to look for another’s golf ball? Genuinely curious for an answer here. Should that father have said something, definitely not.

I laughed and enjoyed this story though not going to lie.

You've never knocked anyone out on the course?

It's like Opie's fight scene from Andy Griffith, "Step across that line", haha.

I had a conversation today with a young man who was struggling concerning how to work with someone who refuses to work with him. He wanted to keep going to the well.

I suggested that he might want to stop living in Mayberry RFD.

He had no idea as to what I was referring. I’m old.

Not on purpose. I did though knock out one of my crew members total freaking accident. I got a call about a stick head on a green, the mowers were watering ahead of their mow. Head was stuck on so a call went out to turn it off. The hole played facing the rising sun, and I had my windshield up since it was rather chilly i came around the corner crested the hill had the sun right in my eyes and smoked my guy who was sitting in his cart. Messed up both our carts pretty bad, he was concussed and out for a little bit. It was just a freak accident with the perfect angle of the sun making it impossible to see once it hit that plastic windscreen.

Close to it one time many years ago.  A guy I never played with before joined me one morning.  Annoying as heck because he would say great shot every time I hit the ball no matter how good or bad it was.  On one hole he walked up into a greenside trap while I was still out 80 yards or so.  It was kind of a foggy morning and I proceeded the thin a sand wedge towards him and yelled fore.  He looked up about the same time it came down on his cheek bone and ko'ed in the sand trap.  I got up there and picked him up out of the sand and he had a big gash on his cheek.  Said he was fine and he proceeded to walk down the fairway of the adjoining hole to who knows where.  I brought him back and said we're going to the emergency clinic where they put some stitches in him.  Interestingly enough my homeowners insurance paid for the bill.  And no, I didn't do that on purpose.  I'm not that good.😉

Sometimes things get overheated and you need to throw down. I have seen it happen before, usually there's a quick fight and that's the end of it. What's really contemptable here is involvement of the parent(s). No need for dad to instigate that. Also I don't know the full story but I don't condone calling in the cops. Obviously KFT will want to kick the guy out, but unless someone ended up in the hospital, I don't see why police are necessary in a golf match.

Very tough guy of u lol

Yeah, things go down yo!

One time I hook a drive and this guy like,

”I guess you’ll need your tree iron”

So then, he bout to hit and I say,

”I had a driver like that. Then my father got a job”

Things escalated from there…

He got me a light beer from the cart girl (he knows I detest light beer!) and I shook my head several times right within his field of vision in protest of his shoddy bunker raking “effort”.

But hey, gotta be representin’ out there!

I was in a fight once on a course when I was 17 .. 36 years ago

And only because this other kid charged me throwing roundhouse haymakers thinking I had taken golf balls from his little brother (who had basically picked up our balls from the fairway on the previous hole)

it was surreal

One might offer that a "settled dispute"  is change.

So let me get this straight; player A comments to player B you could help look for the ball and put the flag back, so player B jumps him as player A turns away and player Bs dad stops player C breaking up the fight with his putter.

There's no room for this kind of behaviour in golf and player B should be given a lifetime ban. Considering the sources have said player A was walking away, that’s just cowardly.

Yeah I changed my mind when I read what actually happened - guy should probably get the boot.

Truth is in a match or tournament - and only in these situations - I'm not wasting time on every single hole helping you especially if its clear that its going to happen all day. If its once, fine. But if its clear its going to be every hole? No way, I have my own score to think about. In a tournament like that, once I hit my tee shot, I'm already thinking about my next shot when I'm walking to my ball. Or more likely, I'm still stewing about the five footer I missed six holes ago. But If I'm screwing around in the woods every hole looking for you - then I'm not maxing out the time that I can think about what I'm doing.

Couple things. One, if I'm not helping you then I absolutely do not expect your help. Two, in casual rounds, I'll help you look all day long.

UNTIL HE SAID UNCLE.

Making the victim say "uncle" and getting said response is the cherry on top of this delicious sundae.  I've a new found contrarian admiration for the attacker.  It sounds like he felt the victim threw down the gauntlet, and it had to be.  This is this.
