DJ potentially trying new TM Mini

According to Chris Trott’s IG, there’s a build sheet for DJ and it’s the mini driver, and a 15.5* Sim Max HL. Would be interesting to see this combo since his driving last week wasn’t great.

Doesn’t look like a driver. Or it’s a secondary driver. Like phil , 44 inches is a 3 wood these days.

DJ quite notably uses a pretty short 3-wood though, especially for his height. 42.75" I believe. Also almost always higher lofted, 16-17*. 

I wonder if this is maybe something for him to turn over and goes further than his 3w?

lol hes not going to keep it in the bag for any meaningful amount of time. it's just another marketing piece by TM to show a pro is demo'ing the new product. same as the SIM hybrid

Does anyone know, would the 44” be standard length for a mini driver, or is that extended a touch?

I typically see more around 43" for the mini driver, but the TM website shows the stock length for the Original One being 43.75"

I put my original one next to the new 300 when I had a chance to see it, and I believe the new 300 is a tad longer. The stock stiff shaft seemed a little whippy. There was a lot of red on the handle near the grip but for the life of me I can't remember what kind of shaft was on the one I looked at. The little red marking on the trailing edge of the crown is the number 300. Overall the club looks really awesome to my eye.

Height and playing length of woods don’t correlate closely at all. You see GMac play a 46” inch driver for years and you see dusty play at 45”

They actually do correlate quite a bit if you are looking to maximize certain aspects of your game.

DJ is at 45.75" unless something changed recently, and prior to the recent driver Bryson-izing, most dude's setups did more closely correlate to their height.
