How do I stop doing forward Press with my putter!!!! I cant help it but I need it to stop

It is most likely happening due to muscle memory.  Sports science has shown it takes roughly 100,000 correct repetitions to ingrain a new muscle memory.  

 

Start with Slow big muscle movements at first, then work to the fine muscle movements...

 

This will take some time...

If you put a slight dorsal flexion in your right wrist as you forward press and hold that angle through the stroke it's a good thing.

Maybe the golf gods are telling you that you need to forward press.

 

In all seriousness, do you do a forward press on your full shots?

 

If so, then it helps you have commonality between your full shots and putts.  Then do it on chip shots too.

 

Just a thought.

I just think with the forward press is causing me to push my putts a little bit. I was thinking of going to like a Seemore to help me with a alignment and squaring the putter face but with that in a Forward press kind of defeats the purpose, no?

I was the same, probably from seeing so many pros do it on TV.  Got inspired by Zach Johnson to try a SeeMore, and it seemed if anything he had a reverse press to start.  It did help me hone a stroke without forward pressing, and now I think of it almost as if using a belly putter.

 

Maybe you can try hovering to start the stroke too.

Yes I've been really intrigued by the Seemoore Potter and that's kind of why I want to get rid of my Ford press because with those it's useless because of the way their alignment system is
