LPGA every one of Sorenstam's I think.  Karrie Webb probably a few too.  Too lazy to look it up.

Include the LPGA and Champions Tour and the numbers probably even out quite a bit.

It's only in the last twenty years or so that Callaway has focused on selling overall performance. For a long time they were all about forgiveness. I think the first iteration of the X-Forged was their first real player's iron.

Slightly off topic.
Am I correct in saying that of all the major OEMs. Callaway’s tour stuff is the least like what they release retail?

Very very true, we get the big bertha double black diamond, while tour gets the epic flash speed sub zero triple diamond single dot green line adapter. Same with irons as well.

I thought Karrie Webb was a Titleist staffer, at least the majority of her career?

True but now you made me not be lazy and look it up.  Her last major was the 2006 Kraft Nabisco and she was a Srixon staffer at the time it appears.  So I was completely wrong about Karrie and I don't care 'cuz Dr. Zevia was asking for free info and he got his money's worth.

The 2007 X Forged was predated by the X Tour irons released in 2005. (Two piece forged cavity back that clearly looks the part of X Forged predecessor)

The X Tour was basically a well we just signed Phil Mickelson so we have to make a forged players iron.

He still had Titleist irons in the bag for a few months after he signed with Callaway (2004 Ryder Cup disaster was in that timeline where Callaway stuff was coming in but Titleist irons were in because Callaway didn't have anything yet.)

X Tour irons were in Phils bag for the 2005 PGA and 2006 Masters. (As well as Winged Foot)

What OEM has the most since 2012? It's gotta be either Titleist or straight up free agents. I know Titleist has guys like Spieth,Thomas, Scott, and Webb Simpson on the roster. Brooks isn't sponsored by anyone and neither were Reed or Molinari when they won in 2018.

According to my research the major count by OEM's since 2012 is as follows:

Taylormade: 8

Callaway: 4

Titelist: 10

Ping: 2

Srixon: 1

Cobra: 1

Wilson Staff: 1

Nike golf clubs: 2 (RIP)

Not sponsored/Free agent:  6 (Brooks really inflates this one)

*I'm including guys who were sponsored by a certain manufacturer at the moment of their win, but no longer play that companies equipment (ex. Rory won the 2012 PGA with Titleist so it counts as a Titleist win).

Who woulda thought Titelist would've been number 1! Interesting also that a lot of players start out playing Titelist equipment (Rory, Phil, Tiger) only to go play something else. Anyone know how long Tiger played Titelist clubs? I think it was til 2002.

Francesco Molinari was a Callaway player also.

I make the list:

Phil Mickelson

Francesco Molinari

Henrik Stenson

Danny Willet

Ernie Els

Graeme McDowell

Michael Campbell

It isn’t a bad list and if Monty had got over the line when he was their flagship player the list could look even better.

Then if we add in Sorenstam, Georgia Hall and others on the women’s side it looks even better.

Of course, if people bought clubs solely based on major wins then Nike would still be making clubs!

My bad: just checked and he changed after the win.  Still not a bad list.  Callaway seem to have placed their bets on Monty being their winner and for so long it looked like they would be right.  Certainly in the UK everyone knew Monty was a Callaway man and it definitely influenced club golfers in what they bought.  They never went for the same large roster approach of big names that Taylormade did.

I always thought it was a shame Rory didn’t keep his Callaway bag as I thought the raw irons were fabulous.

So how many of you guys bought a Cally driver recently?  I bet there's a good number of golfers in general that are very happy today after they learn that their driver purchase will be comped by Dick's and Golf Galaxy thanks to Rahmbo.
