Would you put new grips on Hogan PCs?

I have a beautiful set of Hogan PCs mint condition one through pitching wedge, grips are great condition original hogans but are dry and not playable. Are these clubs more valuable as vintage, or should I re-grip them and use/sell them?

PC listings usually start a debate as they come with a reputation so I will kick off and say I love them! Not as unforgiving as many would suggest with my only issue being the micro dot nitrous button hidden in the face which, when found (in my case by pure accident) launches the ball much further than expected! Still a joyous feeling despite watching ball disappear into the undergrowth beyond the green!

Back to topic, I would say only keep the grips if genuinely unhit examples. There is a niche market for unplayed pristine. Once hit they should be played and if that requires new grips then re-grip them and enjoy the PC experience!

Agree with both Foozie and Mr Clean on this. Most of my stuff is not "collector grade" and I play it so thus if they need grips they get grips. If you want to play them and not sure of if you are going to keep or not I will offer a suggestion. Go to the drugstore and get a couple of rolls of athletic gauze tape. Go a couple of wraps on each club. You can get a secure grip to try them. If you decide to sell with the original grips you can simply unwrap them and there is no residue. LOL I did a set of 57 Macs like that not because I was going to sell them but I had a bet in a match the next day and did not have time to regrip. Loved the way they felt and hit like that and the tape is still on them. BTW won my bet that was the set I did a post on about the "All Scrapyard Set" Shot 80 with the whole set of Junkyard Refugees

@BIG STUmakes a point, OP. that's one way to test drive the sticks.

 

for resale, don't alter the clubs.

if keepers, do whatever floats your boat.

 

I need midsize so all secondhand gear falls into the 'regrip' category for me.

Sold w/ existing original grips for more than I expected… the one iron pumped the value.
