Big Moss Putting Mat

Have been researching indoor putting mats lately and am about to pull the trigger on a Big Moss. They are having a 10% off sale plus free string drill kit, so now's the time to pick one up. What are your guys thoughts on them? I need one that I can roll up each evening and store away from my kids and dog. Do Big Moss mats roll up easily/neatly and quick to lie flat once rolled back out?

Also debating size. I'm looking at their original V2 in either 9' or 12' length. If I'll get some benefit out of an extra 3' with the 12' model then I'll go with that one as I have the space for it. But there is something to be said for a smaller footprint one that will probably be easier to roll up and store. Just not sure at what distance I should be working on to get my stroke consistent.

I have the 9' V2 on my lanai and really like it.  It's pretty big to roll up every day but I am sure it can easily be done. I bought a perfect practice as well as I have been getting too lazy to walk to the hole each time to retrieve my balls 😂 I would think the longer version would be beneficial as it gives you more options for a longer putt but obviously a little more difficult to roll up and store. I would also think the repetitive rolling up and storing would eventually break down the self adhesive foam under the holes. Just my take on it.  My bulldog loves to lay on mine and hasn't affected anything with it.

Do it. I have had mine for two years. 12' x 3 or 4'. It is excellent, so much better vs. any other mat I have seen in person. Quick vacuum every so often and it cleans up perfect.

Get the longer one if you have room. You end up canceling a foot or so just by ball placement and getting both feet on the mat.

I'm leaning towards the 12 footer. It's not like I'm knocking them dead to 3 feet on my approaches. HA!!

I had one and it was fun to use.  However I found it to not be comparable to the greens I usually play and I felt it really hurt my putting.  Since I got rid of it (and the Tour Links green I got after it) and completely quit practicing at home my putting has improved a lot.

Not comparable in speed or something else?

Not sure exactly.  I think I just honed a stroke that was perfect for repeatably holing a 10 footer on the Big Moss, but it negatively impacted my feel on a real green over varying speeds, breaks, etc.

I have a Big Moss and a Putt Out, I like them both. I use them both daily. If I had to choose one over the other it would be the Big Moss hands down. It rolls really well. I keep mine down all the time, and as someone mentioned above, my pup loves to lay on them and it hasn’t caused any issues to the mats. I use them more to dial in stroke and alignment more so than speed. So I haven’t ran into the issue of putting poorly on the course because of them.

I have the big country club, you should too!  They are great and infinitely better than any strip you can buy

Thanks for the feedback!!

Also, you can adjust the speed of the green using your vacuum per the instructions (and it works)

Got my Big Moss delivered yesterday. Setup was simple and I was putting on it within a few minutes. Seems really nice so far. It came with a free universal string drill kit. I messed around with it a bit and I can see the benefit of the string drill. Something I think I'll get plenty of use out of. It rolled up OK for storage. Once you get to the foam portion of the green it gets a little tough to roll and the adhesive comes loose from the foam separating the foam from the mat. Not much of an issue as I have a spot to lay it safely without it being completely rolled, but I can see the adhesive eventually getting destroyed by this process. Big Moss sells replacement adhesive squares, which I'll probably pick up. In the future I'll most likely just remove the foam, roll up the mat and store them separately. A bit of a pain in the butt, but it would get destroyed if I left it out. Worth the effort as I can already see the quality of the mat and the roll seems about as true as be.

I leave mine down and my dog (105 pounds) often tries digging through it. Not a scratch on it

Thanks. Once mine settles down (she's still a terrible chewer) I'm going to try and find a spot to keep it out if I can find the room. It's in my rec room where my kids play, so it might still take up too much space, which is fine. Like I said, I don't mind rolling it up after I'm done.

Here it is. You can see my kids trampoline off to the left. I hit foam balls into the netting pretty much every night. HA!!!
