Knuckle pain...

I am a right handed golfer.  Arthritis aside, what causes pain in the large knuckle at the base of middle finger on right hand?   I treat it with ice but I'd like to know if the cause is something I can correct.

I switched to a 10 finger grip about 4-5 years ago and no more pain.  Every time I experiment with going back to overlap which I played for 30 years, it kills me.  Do whatever you have to do, I say.

I went with inserts in the irons and golf pride midsize plus 4 grips. Helps me, I got the arthritis in both hands.

Yes.  I switched to CP2 midsize grips last year but I sometimes think the larger grips might actually exacerbate the problem rather than fix it.  ⛳  Seems I have to choose the lessor of two evils - NSAIDs are good for inflammation but bad for my kidneys.  Similarly, prednisone injections are great for controlling inflammation but have a negative effect on my lymphocytes and immune system.  🤨

Celebrex and learn how to cope with pain.   No two joint stiffnesses, swelling, and pain are the same for anyone.   Experiment and hopefully you have a Dr with enough spare time on his hands to talk with you.

 

Everything you do is tough on your kidneys and liver, chose your medications wisely.  🙂

 

At present I'm attempting to play.   To play at all that is.   Pain, swelling and stiffness beyond comprehension at the present.   I do have hope.  😃
