Titleist Ap 3 irons, anyone still happy with them?

To anyone  still using these irons, are you still happy with the performance? Have you had any durability issues with the finish?

I have read that they feel harsh but is that true on flushed strikes as well?

I have a chance to get a used set in the cheap but won’t be able to hit them. They have KBS tour stiff shafts.

thanks for any input....

I play 718 AP1 in 5-GW, but since they don't make a 3 iron in AP1, I got an AP3.

Harsh is a good word ... I love it, but you know when you mishit it. It still comes out OK, but you know you missed it. The long irons are hollow body, which is nice. Mine has the AMT Black shaft. Have not seen any durability issues, but I don't hit it a ton.

I play AP3s and have for the last 3 seasons.  I probably have 80 rounds on mine and the finish still looks good.  I wouldn't say they are harsh, but as tatertot says you know when you mishit it.  But they are still plenty forgiving.  Flushed shots feel great though in my opinion.

I have a set of AP3 (5-AW) for past two seasons and have had no durability issues, in fact they still look really fresh and new but I also take really good care of my clubs cleaning after every round. They really launch the ball high and soft and when you see comparisons to the newer T200 model the performance is almost identical so I don’t think your losing much by buying a used set of AP3 if you can get them dialed in. I love the AMT black shafts that progressively get lighter in the long irons.

The clubs feel a little harsh on mishits is correct as the clubs give you some descent feedback as players clubs should but flushed shots feel like $. I plan on keeping the AP3 in the bag for a few more years. I read somewhere on the forums that Titleist tests there clubs to withstand 10k plus hits and I believe it. Wonderfully crafted to last a lifetime if taken care of. Just my opinion.

I’m still playing AP3s and have been for 3 seasons. I’m very happy with them. Flushed shots feel as good as anything I’ve hit. Miss hits feel harsh. I actually like this as it gives me immediate feedback on strike quality. That being said, you do get quite a bit of help on those miss hits when it comes to the result.

I have a ton of rounds in these things and they still look new and shiny when I clean them up. Wear is not an issue. I’m super happy with them and will continue to play them for the foreseeable future.

I'm still playing my AP3s and still pleased. Coming from forged Mizuno MPs, I like the performance but still find the feel to be "different" compared to Mizunos. I'm interested in the new 2021 T200s however.

Love mine….not sure about all the talk about harsh on misses but I also have Tensei Reds for shafts so they feel pretty dang good on mis hits…perfect balance for me between the AP1 and AP2…short irons are money and my favorite club is the gap wedge…bent to 50 degrees…perfect on short par fours and three shot par fives

I just found a mint set on FB marketplace yesterday for $550 4-W with the 48*. So far only did a range session but I'm a big fan. That 48* might end up being my favorite club of all time. I came from Apex Pro 16s that i just hate. I got fitted last week and either was between 921 Forged/HMP, ZX5 but both waits are so incredibly long, when I found those I just snatched them up. Could easily resell for what I have in them.

As a high single/low double HCPer the Apex Pro 16 forged were nice but I lost distance due to my swing and the lofts and was punished too much for mis hits.

For my average strike, the feel seems similar, could just be the project x in there. Ive had some BTS (better-than-sex) shots with the Apex's but already don't miss them.
