How to tell if shafts (c-tapers) are knock-offs?

i just purchased some very hard to find c-tapers from the 'bay. retail price, not a "too-good-to-be-true deal" or anything like that.

 

in any event, what are some ways i can try to determine if they are legit or not when they arrive?

 

i have identical shafts i can use to visually compare them. also have access to a frequency machine but have never used it, nor do i know what to look for.

 

please let me know if you have suggestions or questions. thanks!

why hard to find?
you can always buy direct from KBS although their prices are  normal retail.

 

can also buy from golfworks  golfshaftsamerica etc

as of a few days ago, the KBS website only had one 130g c-taper left in stock at the length i need, and every major retail outlet within a 50 mile radius of me had zero. that's why i didn't purchase them from KBS directly or from a major retailer.

 

during this search, i spoke with someone from the PGA superstore who generously offered to inspect my order for me. he said the stickers were usually a very good tell, and i reckon he's probably right. however, i want to double-check with you guys in case there's something else i should be looking out for.

 

anyway, i would've 100% bought these on KBS's website or at a retailer, but they simply didn't have the inventory. i have absolutely zero desire to play with counterfeits, so i'm asking for some help from you guys out of an abundance of caution.

What Ebay seller did you purchase the shafts from? Knowing who the seller was may help you get a more informed opinion. All about the details.

You'll be fine. They have plenty of feedback on eBay, if you're looking for that.

The shafts did not contain KBS stickers on them. This seems like a red flag. Am I right to be concerned about this?

Stickers and shafts come separately.

 Lots of people don't apply the shaft band.  KBS etches serial numbers and stuff on the butt.

If you want some shaft bands, call KBS and tell them your serial no's and they'll identify your shafts and send you stickers.  I've never had anything but great service from them
