Did anyone else enjoy watching the US Open in the fall last year?

As a few others have said, I'd prefer they go back to the old schedule:

Players - March (I'm honestly fine with May also)

Masters - April

US Open - June (Father's Day finish is the best)

British - July

PGA - August

I believe most golf fans prefer an August PGA, but the PGA Tour is determined to make the Playoffs something prestigious .

Right! Cramming all the majors in 4 months seems so rushed.  I think moving the PGA to labor day weekend with a Monday finish would be pretty sweet. That way we would get a late summer/early autumn major, and it would spread out the 4 majors. I think all 4 majors are played within 100 days and that's just stupid IMO.

This is solid.  Flow is important.  I also think cramming the majors together short changes the events in between as more and more of the big names take off the tournament before or after.

I also hated for the actual PGA Professionals in the field at the PGA that those guys in the northern half of the country are at a huge disadvantage as their courses either aren't open or haven't been open long unless they split time at a course down in Florida for the winter or something.  I know that effects an incredibly small percentage for guys and not likely a winner, but it is nice to have the tradition and at least give the guys a fighting chance to make the cut and rep their clubs in a major.

The PGA Tour strong armed the PGA of America into moving the PGA Championship from August to May. The PGA Tour dictated the move.

Actually I think you are right. I wish the PGA Tour would stop cramming the Fedex Cup down the viewers throat. Think back to the 2018 Tour Championship, I don't even remember who won the Fedex Cup that year. What I do remember is this

Justin Rose won the 2018 FedEx Cup (playoffs). Basically, for decades the PGA Tour organization was envious of  the four Majors and the Ryder Cup being owned by others:

Masters (owned by Augusta National GC)

US Open (owned by USGA)

British Open (owned by R&A)

PGA Championship (owned by the PGA of America).

Ryder Cup (60% owned by PGA of America 40% owned by Euro PGA organizations).

So, 25 years ago in an effort to create its own prestigious event (and collect the money that comes from same) the PGA Tour created the President's Cup. In recent recent years the PGA Tour created the FedEX Cup for the same reason (s), prestige and money.

plain and simple the PGA Tour let CBS and the NFL influence and change their schedule that had worked for years...kinda ironic now that rating are in the dump for the NFL due to their backing of the woke generation....people watched golf because golf had MR TW....golf is not a wrap around season mentality, golfers look at a calendar and Jan is the start of their year not October

PGA moved because they were and will always get killed by NFL. Even with the NFL down a little bit it is far from in the dumps. Not sure why you say it is in the dumps

Yeah I wouldn't call 17 million viewers per week "down in the dumps"....

The NFL's highest ratings were in 2010 and 2015 and those years were at 17.9 million. a 5% decline is hardly anything at all.

NFL is so dead that franchises will be selling for 8 to 10 billion before you know it. You just threw a turd and hoped it would stick without having any clue about what you were saying.

Let's stick to facts. NFL lost 4 billion in 2020 (due to many factors) and there is a HUGE ratings slump ...  https://deadline.com/2020/12/nfl-ratings-slump-affecting-network-advertising-revenues-report-1234655747/

Yeah making 12 billion means the league will fold up tomorrow. You guys just make s*** up. NFL is the most profitable US sport regardless of pandemic or not and the uneducated claim it is dying.

Nobody's making anything up but you. I presented fact, you present your opinion which is just that, an opinion. NFL and NBA are getting what they deserve, a slow but steady fall ... they won't go under because the corporate world  sponsorship is  too deep, but when ads start selling for much less and attendance drops off these are clear signals of big problems.

League makes 12 bil plus a year and teams will be selling for 8 billion ish soon. Of course revenue was down last year but the league is far from dead. Do you think in any business profits should always be higher than the year before regardless of the economy and the world? NFL did a hell of alot better than almost all businesses in 2020. Go ahead and keep dying on the league will fold up soon sword.
