Scotty 1998 Xperimental Prototype - Advice?

I still have this putter from 1998.  It was my gamer in HS and into college, so its obviously not in pristine condition.

 

I know very little about the collectible Scotty putter market, other than these things seem to sell for a lot less (even in new condition) than a lot of the Scotty putters for sale in the Classifieds section here - so I assume they are much less sought after than the real collectible ones... That being said, still not cheap putters.

 

Should I send this off to have it redone by SC, or is that a waste of money at this point, etc? I'd like to get it refreshed one way or another. 

 

Honestly, just looking for general advice/opinions on what you all would do.

I would keep it the way it is because it’s only original once. Looks to be in great shape as well.

Looks like the Mid Slant model. I have the Long Neck version still (see my avatar).  I’ve seen these go for about $500 on the Bay. If you have the original bomber jacket headcover, those sell separately for >$150.

What about paint fill?  Do most people DIY that or send it some place?

Yeah that's about the prices I saw, more for new, which this isn't.

You honestly could reach out just to get it polished and new paint fill. Looks like you kept it from getting bag chatter.

If you just want the paint redone I'd suggest doing it yourself. It's a pretty simple process and all you need is some model paint and acetone. Just watch a youtube video on how to do it and then give it a go.

 

If you send it off you're going to end up paying wayyyyy too much for paint fill. Especially after you account for shipping, insurance, and etc.

I was thinking the same thing - thanks for letting me know!  I figured people must be DIY'ing this stuff, lol.

I had great experience with norcal and bastainmilled. Just tell them polish and paint fill. I trust them with my putters
