Good friend of mine just picked up a set of jpx 921 forged off eBay for a too good to be true price and got burned.   They sound like a tin can… just letting everyone know that these are being knocked off now. 

I told him to call them and confirm that they’re fake but after I was just in a fitting bay last week with the 921 forged, his are absolutely fake.

Rules of thumb I’ve always followed.

1) I NEVER buy equipment from eBay. Just way too many knock-offs. 

 

2) Falls under ‘common sense’ and ‘general rules of life’. If something seems to good to be true, it is 99% of the time. 
 

Example. Brand new Golf Pride grips on eBay for almost half price… They turned out to be knock offs! No????? Haha

eBay is reliable for clubs if you know what to look for. I definitely stay away from them for grips though, like you said.

With ebay demanding access to your checking account now that solves that problem for me. I have purchased quite a bit and always been ok, definitely got some knock off grips but they were fine for the price. PAYPAL worked great, no way I am giving my account number unless it is a dedicated account only for ebay.

Did he send them back and ask for a refund? Ebay will give buyers their money back in a heartbeat.

This. eBay seems to have tilted from buyer beware to protecting buyers.  I buy stuff on eBay but selling has gotten way too difficult.

Once Ebay wanted a direct line to my bank account I quit selling.

I buy most of my clubs from Ebay. I buy my grips there too.

If the price is crazy low, stay away. Otherwise, there are plenty of good deals to be found.

Don't buy anything shipping from China, either.

I’ve never had an issue buying on eBay. I’ve never bought a fake anything. Reputation and history matter and I only buy from the best sellers. I find great deals all the time on clubs and grips.

No the grips worked fine, i change them and clubs so often it was not a big deal.

My buddy is waiting for an official word from mizuno in writing then he’ll go to eBay with it.
