Sorry but the "I'm going to knock the snot out of this golf ball. If my numbers at impact are good, then great. If not, you better give something that will magically keep it in play" type of athlete is NOT my type of athlete. I'm not cheering for someone using a magic wand. I'm cheering for the guy/gal with the 'magic' move 👍

Both him and Brooks make sick to my stomach. Not just an embarrassment to the game, but to humanity in general.

I’m not a contract attorney. But I’d bet anything theres a “ product support or defamation “ clause.  Doesn’t mean they’ll go at him this time. But I’d bet he is “ written up “ and warned to tee it up for the future.

You are also not a tour pro with sponsors so why would you have a clue about their contracts.

Marketing COBRA RADSPEED : BUILT FOR SPEED

Reality : ...unless its too much speed, in which case you are a baby if you complain.

Because Bryson said the “driver sucks” doesn’t make it so.  The guy is the least accountable player on your.  According to him, he’s never hit a bad shot.  It’s either crappy equipment or bad breaks.  For anyone paying attention to him, this day was very foreseeable.

The people defending BDC are hilarious. He is opening complaining about the equipment from his sponsor and somehow that's not a problem. How often do you see other players complain about their equipment openly (and like a child) like this? I would bet rarely. Do you think all the other players have their equipment build to the perfect spec with 0 complaint? Obviously not and I'm sure a lot of players have complained and discussed with their sponsors in private about their issues. If you have a problem with your driver, go talk to your rep in private instead of tanking their value in front of everyone. Is that hard to understand?

Lol.  Well.  I can read. #1.   This has been reported on many many times

#2 I’m around several who are.... this type topic plus their retirement , and schedule strategy’s aRe favorite talking points .

# 3 general common sense.  Subtract “ tour player “ and think “ product endorsement “.  Common sense says that if there’s a bonus schedule for performance and or exceptional publicity and promotion , that there would also be a penalty mentioned for conduct that leads to defamation.  Even if the penalty is just dissolution  of  the contract.  Meaning “ we ain’t paying you the rest “.

Man.  He’s going to get roasted for saying that ( Bryson ) rightfully so.  You might say it to them quietly. But never out loud. You’d just play the LTD tommorow and refuse to comment on it.  He’s basically  close to breaking contract. And might have to pay for that $ ....

So where is the driver that he won the US Open with?

I’d bet he has it in play tommorow.  But who knows.  It wasn’t this one. I think ( don’t know ) it was that LTD with the different shaft.

I agree in a way. TM is crap stock. But to fast guys , once tuned it’s hard to beat.  And you won’t find anyone here who thinks I’m a TM apologist..... lol. I was accused of hate for them this week on the mini thread , with years old posts cited.  Loll. I’m just telling what I see.   I have an RBZ 14.5 3 wood in the closet that to this day is 3 mph on average faster than any other 3 wood I’ve ever tested.  But I don’t like the flight it produces.  You just can’t call them slow.  If you’re fast they keep up at speed.  Some heads don’t.  The faster you get the more they are exposed as slouches.   My opinion.

Speculation he’s going to PXG

I feel like Bryson would be in for a shock if they dropped Him. Seems like he doesn’t appreciate the sheer amount of effort cobra dedicates to his wild equipment. not sure how many other club manufacturers would be able to dedicate so much of their tour operations to one player. Most other brands have so many more players than cobra.
I can’t see many manufacturers falling over themselves to deal with a guy who wants the things he wants on a daily basis.

I’m really getting sick of the announcers pumping how long Bryson drives the ball while he gets out driven by Spieth… yeah if he catches one it’s a rocket but he isn’t as long as everyone says. There are a dozen big hitting players that have much better looking swings than Bryson’s clunky swing-out of your boots hack at the ball.

Don’t get me started about his wedge game. Lol

When he catches one, nobody can get to where Bryson can get to, with a driver. That is not up for discussion. Cam Champ is probably longer, but he can't take the same lines as Bryson can. There isn't anybody on tour who can take the lines Bryson can. Bryson does, clearly, loose a ton on yardage on off-centered hits.

Phil sucked out there today too. Maybe 5 degree drivers and breezy links golf courses just don't mix?

There’s a little speculation on Twitter that PXG would pick him up but not sure that would work. No other OEM could dedicate the time and resources to him

Sounds like a handful of guys in every scramble ever.  Bryson is a total incel and just lives in his own little constructed reality, in the off chance it all aligns, he is really good.  But more often than not, all this hoopla boils down to a run of the mill good PGAT pro.

Bryson def has incel vibes, his attitude and demeanor certainly aligns.  Anyway, was more just a sarcastic thing, but carry on.

Impressions after the first two hours (my coverage started at 4 AM US EDT).

Relative to what I am used to in the UK, conditions are quite mild. Slightly brisk breeze, but drop dead beautiful sunny day. And that's the forecast for the whole tourney - periods of gusty wind (though not too bad), but mostly sunny and no rain at all for all four days. (I'll actually miss the wicked squalls with driving rain I associate with the Open.) After a bit more than an hour, there are already a few at -2 and one at -4. We  may see some low scores this week - weather just isn't going to be the factor it usually is.

With little weather threat, the chief challenges will come from the course itself: Green, pot bunkers, and fescue. Announcer said greens are stimping 10. If true, that seems quite slow for a major. Maybe a couple days of sun and wind will dry them out? Bunkers? I'm not certain what it is ... perhaps the guys doing a lot of homework around club strategy, but it just occurred to me that after almost two hours, I haven't seen a single golfer in a bunker. The grass is what you'd expect - not easy to hit out of, but not as high as I've seen in past Opens. People seem to be able to get out of it, and no one has lost a ball yet.

The coverage is, well, the coverage. It is (as most know) the R&A "world" feed, not NBC's coverage. Americans that are used to the bells and whistles in the graphics (shot tracer, graphics of where everyone in a three landed, overlaid with distances, images of holes with arrows showing wind speed and direction while a guy is on a tee, etc., etc. None of that is here. A (very) few holes have shot tracers, and on those that do it is rudimentary. Just a line, a measurement of apex, but no ball speed or even the distance of drives or any other metrics. This is golf coverage at its most basic. Some camera people following golfers around, a few fixed cameras on a few holes. Commentators that are, well, its a draw - they are just as dull and banal as US commentators.

So bottom line, a course and conditions that are not very punishing, coverage and coverage technology that look like that of a B level PGA tourney. There won't be an asterisk next to this tourney - it is an Open and I'll watch every minute it is on - but this is definitely "COVID golf".

I really like shot tracer, it's interesting to see how the pros hit the ball to pins, trajectories etc.  Much better than the camera zooming in on a ball flying through the air or wandering around looking for it's resting place.  That being said the rest of the graphics you see on a typical American broadcast can be annoying and overdone.  I would like full blown shot tracer with less of the other stuff.  JMHO.

The weather conditions are what they are, and that's what they should be, hopefully the wind blows this weekend and things dry out, it's fun to see the course change over the weekend and the players having to adapt to various conidtions.
