Its always tough to tell early since this is always largely players who have struggled on the course all week.  There is still 3 67s and a 65.  I think there will be more players starting the day in the top 10-15 ending up even or over today though than yesterday

Your point is fair, Bryson tried the driver and basically shot himself out of the tournament on day 1. Guy needs to learn some sort of "fair finder" shot, doesn't matter if he hits the mega cut 275. (but idk, he's also on tour and I'm not exactly warming up for my tee time in the British right now). 

 

That's it! He really has overdone the golf swing aspect......yes, of course you need reliable/ repeatable swing thoughts......I love DJ's uncluttered mind ........I've actually gone to a similar shot albeit 100yds shorter 🙄

Was just writing that it's refreshing not to hear "Get in the hole!" on every tee shot, but Rahm's tee ball on 1 blew that.

I love the way Rahm played the 18th on Friday.  He teed of with an iron to stay well short of the bunkers and made an easy par almost birdie.  

Its no coincidence that those on top of the leaderboard have been playing for fairways and no bomb and gouge nonsense.   Bryson's 200mph ball speed strategy isn't going to work.  He missed alot of fairways at Winged Foot also but his hot putter got it done that week.   200mph ball speeds = massive side spin at 5.5* loft = lots of missed fairways no matter how good your golf swing.  He would love his driver if he dialed it down to around 180mph. 😂

Curious as the why players aren't using less than driver ? Watching Casey break his wrist on #1 right now......

I don't expect much from him anymore.  1 win a season is about all I can expect anymore......

 

Don't get me wrong still a fan, just the expectations have been tempered.

I miss him too! I have actually tried to imitate his introduction when approaching the first tee before. My NC Southern accent doesn't quite do it justice though.....

Time for a b**** about the tv coverage. But first, I will say, there’s a lot of golf being shown here in the sweet spot of the coverage (before the leaders tee off). We all know that the commercials are coming once the final game misses the fairway on #1.

 

McIlroy’s 360 lip out for par… I just don’t get it. TV shows the pitch shot (or bunker shot.. I forget) from the zoomed tower view. We see the whole shot from above. Then for the five foot par putt, they inexplicably switch to worm cam, but from 50 meters away. Can’t see the cup at all. We see the ball dance around then stay above the ground level. And no replay of the crazy lip out from the much better tower angle. Sucks. Never understand when TV switches to a worse angle on purpose! They do it all the time.

I read that this course is not the most loved by the players since, even for links golf, there are lots of totally random bounces etc that make total chance come into play here more so than the other Open venues. 

 

 

Theres Spieth with that fade practice rehearsal. Working great for him.

Time of be great Rahm. It doesn’t last for long. Maybe five or six years really. Gotta be a contender in all the majors starting right now. In six years it’d be much much more difficult to make your way up these leaderboards.
