Did I make a mistake with JPX forged

Recommended Posts

I ordered the JPX forged 2 or 3 weeks ago. Im second guessing myself now because of what titleist has brought out. Should I try to get my order with mizuno cancelled and wait for titleist irons. When I hit t100s they were a touch out of my skill level but not by much. I know some people will say to get both, but I cant. Should I just stick with the forged or wait?

If you wait, it’ll be awhile. I don’t think those new T100’s will be available for at least another 90 days.

I think you should wait a few years to see what Titleist comes out with next, I bet the next iteration will be even better than the ones they're just announcing now!   /s

For real though, if you keep chasing the next thing that comes out, you're never actually going to have a set of irons because you'll keep cancelling, waiting for the next release, rinse and repeat. If you're absolutely 110% dead set on Titleist now all of a sudden after seeing a few new pictures then sure, cancel your order. I can't see why the new lineup would be any better performing than their current models, piece of metal on a stick after all. The mizunos are fine sticks, I would stick with them if I were you.

If you couldn't hit the old T100 doubt you'll be able to hit the T200.

Why’s that? He said the 100s were only a touch out of his skill level and the 200 are more forgiving. Don’t follow your reasoning.
That said, JPX Forged are one of the best sets out there. You should feel good about that purchase.

Here is always going to be something that is intriguing.  Some guys have the money to get them all and others, like myself, just can’t afford that.  It’s a lot of fun for the guys who can try something new over time but likely makes little difference in our games.  To answer your question it is very unlikely you made a mistake with the jpx forged.

I think you'll love the JPX, don't overthink it.

Stick with the JPX 921 Forged.  I've had both and the Titleist T100's are not as forgiving and feel is no where near the JPX.  The 921 forged are not Boron any more so they are Chromoly 4-7 and the 8-GW is grain flow forged 1025E carbon steel just like the MPs and the JPX 921 Tours.  I am still getting used to them from my 900 Forged, but that is mainly due to a shaft change to the Pro Modus 120.  I thought I would like the JPX 921 Tours better, but not the case.  The 921 Forged are a fantastic set that are forgiving (subjective), and they offer distance and shot making.  Hated the 919 Forged but the 921s are the real deal.

Don't expect too much change from a performance perspective between latest T100s to the upcoming one. Maybe a touch more forgiving due to design. So, if you're not sold on the T100s stick with the 921F. I've played a few rounds with both and IMO 921F edged out T100s in every category except for look at address.

I'd say stick with the Mizuno, they're perfectly good irons. The Titleist will be much more expensive and a longer wait for them to arrive.

Definitely stick with the Mizuno's, they look better and imo will feel better. Titleist clubs are mediocre at best (maybe better fitted for an unpopular opinions thread)

You made a fine choice with the jpx forged. Yes, its easy to envy the newest stuff, but there will always be something newer.

I will be the third guy to say PXG.  I had the JPX 919 Tours and Forged long irons.  I am a low spin player, and I couldn't hit the long irons from Mizzy for pizz.  I switched to Ping i210 and really liked them.  Then I had a buddy get a set of PXG's, hit one, and really liked them.  So I ordered a set of the Gen 3 0311P's.  They are AWESOME.  Feel just as good as the 919 JPX Tours I had, way more forgiving, way longer (which the lofts are not equal), and I can launch them way higher plus the long irons spin way better for me.

YMMV, but for me, the PXG Gen 3's are head and shoulders above the JPX's.  Just my two cents.
