Got in a hurry Friday morning and did not do my every day stretch routine. It only takes 5 minutes. Sure enough threw my back out and now I'm romancing an ice pack and a bottle of Advil. Getting old sucks.

I do this the stretch routine on the 1st tee to loosen up and throw my playing partners off their games.

LOL - Getting old is one thing, wait till you are old. lol  I go to the gym but don't stretch, though I know I should.  So, I bought a "Power Flex Swing trainer."  Dang it does help with the shoulder turn and animates transition to left.   Tomorrow, we'll see if I B banging the ball and get to watch da faces... 🙂

I forgot to stretch before and after hitting some balls the other day and I ended up pulling my neck so bad I was out of commission a few days.  In may, I did the same thing, but I lost a few weeks.  I hope I finally learned my lesson.

Who are you telling?  Lol.  I stretch 5 to 6 days a week.  The whole shabang.  Takes me 30 to 45 minutes.  On the days I golf, I will do quick stretches as well before my round.  As for throwing out the back, been there done that plenty of times.  Like you, the ice pack and advil are my friends.  I also have a massage belt and heat packs as well on hand.

I can get by with very, very limited warmup at the golf course. Unless it's a cold winter day I normally spend about 5 minutes with some stretching and slow motion practice swings and then I'm good to go. In a pinch I can get by with literally 60 seconds of practice swings standing next to the first tee.

 

But that's because I spend like 20-25 minutes every morning of my life stretching at home. If I skipped my "lifestyle" stretching, it wouldn't matter how much warming up I tried to do at the golf course.

After throwing out my back twice last year I went to see a trainer that worked with tiger and specializes on golfers to give me some back specific stretches that I use a few times a week. When I am on a golf trip and will be playing a lot of golf I do them before I play and afterwards.

I pop 100mg of diclofenac plus one cap of tramadol 2 hrs before tee off.  Works a charm.  

Yeah, i'm into yoga too but bad knees, arthritic hips and a degenerating spine do mess me up at times.

I have no idea what those are but they sound fun. You wash hose down with a couple Natty Lights? LOL.

I find that a massage gun is great for recovery as well, but it's no substitute for stretching.  If I don't stretch first I may injure myself.  If I don't theragun after, I'll just be a little more stiff than I would otherwise.

Oh man, I know what you mean.  I hit my 50's and it feels like everything is falling apart.  Was a three day a week gym guy most of my life too.  Had knee surgery a couple years ago and am relegated to cart riding whenever I golf from now on.  Developed a bad case of tennis elbow at the end of 2019 golf season and need to wear a strap now when I practice or play or it flares up.  Now, the last three weeks I've been really focusing on hip turn in drills, living room swinging, and range and course sessions to cure my stall, flipping swing and sure enough my left hip is starting to get a pain in it similar to the tennis elbow.    

 

Getting old does suck.

Day three. Rotating ice packs and Advil. Hot tub soaks. Pool noodle floating. Corona and rum. Topical weed oil helps a bunch.  The hunch is about 50% better.  I have a week of big jobs and long drives in front of me starting Tuesday.  Fingers crossed for a dramatic improvement.  I'm hoping to spend the rest of today in the pool watching the smoke from my Webber.

That looks a lot like my pre routine last year.. I took an oxy as the tramadol is like aspirin for me 

I don't get around well with out the diclofenac
