Cleaning golf hat

I second this. I hate unstructured dad hats and despise cotton caps, as well. If its bad I'll hit my cap with some shout or Oxyclean stain stick, put it in the cage and put it in the top loading washing machine. Usually as the last item to go in so there's not a tons of stuff crushing it. Then I let it air dry in the cage.

 

 Once in a great while it does get crushed and maybe get a little crease, but fine by.

one thing I've learned from being a bald guy who wears hats all the time.  DO NOT put sunscreen on or around your forehead.  The hat will protect you from the sun so maybe a little sunscreen on the nose and cheeks. 

I've found sunscreen to discolor black, blue, grey and white hats no matter how much I wash and scrub.  After finding this out I've mostly bought and worn white hats (cooler in the sun) and they still look new with an occasional wash.  Sunscreen is what made my white and grey hats stain yellow and my black and blue hats stain a lighter shade. 

 

Second this, especially with WHITE caps and shirts. One of the actie ingredients in most suscreens apparently attracts iron. And when you overspray your sunscreen onto a white hat or white shirt collar and then put it in the washing machine, the overspray attracts the iron and creates tan to orange stains that will never come out.  I kepy getting them on the white collars of my shirts and after a few summer rounds they were trashed. For caps, take them off before spraying your head and neck!
