Old clubs? Anyone still gaming 10+ yr old stuff

I’m still gaming 962 irons (2-W), an i15 driver and an old Adam’s tight lies tour 17 FW. I shoot low 70s on average and just haven’t liked much (if any) of the new stuff..

 

Anyone else in the same boat? Just haven’t seen anything that’s that drastic of a performance enhancement to replace my old stuff…

I like buying gear so my answer to post, is no. I will say this,

I found vokey Sm4 wedges superior to sm5,6,7,8

my ping G25 woods honestly just as good as G, G30,400410s

and I feel the Titleist 905r Driver is the greatest driver in golf history.

so I would have no problem with those 10 yr+ old clubs

3 wood from 03-TM 200 Steel

eye 2 sw from who knows its at least 25 years old haha

I still have my Vega DC-01 with Recoil proto shafts that I will give my brother.  Have a tour issue R7 ale 13* with fubuki alpha that I'm giving him as well.  They still do the job just fine.  My 2 hybrid is about 11 years old and is still in my bag.  So far nothing's been able to kick it out.  I also don't use it much unless I have about 250 out or I need to hit something high and land soft into a tight fairway or tucked pin.  I also have my SC Newport which has been in my bag for 10 years or so.  I'm not looking to replace it anytime soon.  It's actually on fire atm.  Shot 71 today but from the white tees playing with my father.  It's my lowest round of the year so I'm pretty stoked.  😁

Know a guy who plays a Ping Rapture 5-wood and original TM Spider CS putter, everything else pretty new (Titleist irons and Ping driver) he's  scratch.

5 wood and putter have to be 10 yrs old at least.

My blades are NOS '01 I am told. They play fantastic, but blade technology peaked in the 60's I think. So I'm good.

My 917D3 and F2 are my newest clubs got them last fall.  Before that it was 905r and 904f and I may go back to them.

695MB, SM4 wedges, Ping G2 Anser putter.  Never felt the need to upgrade accept for the driver/FW mainly because of the shaft specs.  I'm waiting on shafts for my 905/904, they'll most likely kick the 917s out of the bag.

Look at my signature that explains it all--- And that is my everyday front line stuff and it does not have to be the latest and greatest to perform well. In fact I went back to the old V-Steel 3 wood about 2 weeks ago sold my 5 year old Adams 16* and 19* fairways. The 7 wood I got new and have rotated it in from time to time in the past but now I think it will stay in until I die or it falls apart.

My backup bag has a 2010 TM Burner Superfast driver, and a TM TPA.VIII putter from circa 1997.

 

In deep backup, I have a Ping Pal putter from 1973 (used it from 2007-2010).

I recently came across some Cleveland Hi Bore Irons 4 and 6 in a local Good Will near an upscale community where a relative lives who I play with on the community course.

Still gaming 690 mbs (coming up on 20 years old at this point, although haven't played them for 20 years got them new about 6 or 7 years ago). Also game an Adam's idea pro a12 18* that's got to be 10+ years old. I rotate through a few putters, but my dad's old original dale head anser see at least half the season every year. Don't let old make you think bad. Irons, wedges, and putters haven't come as far as manufacturers want you to think.

FG 17 Staff blades from mid 80s. Best $50 on a whim I’ve ever spent on golf. Got a spare set just in case. For me, hands down, my all time favorite iron, and I’ve tried a ton of them!

My driver’s an Adams 9015d, so from 2008 i think… bought from Sellinger’s with a Diamana Blueboard 80s. It’s now got a Diamana ZF70s 😉

 

Irons are Epon 301s released in 2007, although they were available as Technica Pro-1 before then around 2004.

I’m still using r11 3 wood along with the original taylormade Mc irons. Using Nike VR wedges also. Think the only club that it’s my bag that isn’t 10+ years is my driver which is a g400. Finally upgrading my irons and woods this month. Playing off 4 and I do feel that the irons are holding me back a little bit on mishits. The 3 wood is still great though but there is definitely much more forgiving options out there for me.

My irons are almost 10 years old.  I re-gripped them recently and have no reason to change.  As long as I know the distances and can hit them consistently there's no reason to change to somethig newer.

My irons are either 16 years old, or nearly 30.  Considering a graphite reshaft job on another set that's 37 years old.  Considering going back to a wedge configuration that includes a 30 year old club.  Putter is Mizuno TP Mills (TPM-2) from 2000 or so.

 

They all still work nicely.

 

At some point this summer, I'll be taking a Cobra Deep Face driver on the course for a couple rounds.  As one does.

I've got and still use my Howson Derby Irons which is a now defunct manufacturer over here in the UK. Which I have had for around 14 years still great shape and gets the job done lol ^_^
