P770, ZX7 or i210

Hi, new to the forum

Currently playing T200's with KBS Tour Stiff 120g. I'll either go with the same shaft or the lighter Modus 3 105. 170-175 yards with i7 at swing speeds around 82 mph. My ball strikes are a a bit inconsistent so I need some help from my irons.

Been looking at P770, ZX7 and i210. I've tried all of them but have a hard time narrowing it down. Will get fitted either way but want to narrow the search down a bit first.

Which one would you prefer and why in terms of forgiveness and feel?

i210 hands down for me (with KBS Tour 120S)

I tried the P770 towards the end of last year and found it was very difficult to hit. Consistently very thin shots. I wanted to love the club because I think it looks beautiful. I've dabbled a little with the zx7 in the shop and have never gotten on with Srixon's v-sole design. The heads feel very heavy too, and I couldn't find a shaft that helped offset that feeling.

Thanks for the replies. I'm quite interested in all three but especially the i210. In my opinion it doesn't look as good as the others but that's not the most important factor.

The T200 is quite strong lofted so I guess both i210 as well as zx7 will go shorter in distance.

Are those 3 irons really more forgiving than the T200?

It's not entirely forgiveness that I'm after at all. Kind of the next step in irons with a bit more feel, shot shaping abilities and perhaps another shaft

This statement has ZX7 written all over it.

The I210 would be a great comparison.  You really can't go wrong with either.

The shaft you choose will go a long way in determining whether or not they perform any better, if at all, than your current T200.  Be methodical with that part of the process.  I would go somewhere that has Nippons, True Temper, and KBS in the 110 to 120 weight range.  The Modus, Dynamic Gold, and $ Taper are all great when fit properly.

i210 is the biggest compared to zx7 and p770, and has a decent amount of offset in the longer irons. Also, a fairly thick sole so if you play in firm/dry conditions, it might not be a great choice unless you're able to and willing to grind the sole down. P770 in the middle and ZX7 will have that unique vsole. I never got on with it either... thin but seems like higher bounce?

You really should test all 3 outside. Off a mat might not reveal the full features of each club.

I will add that I could not ignore the consistency I got with DG 120 ... but that's where things become specific to you, and your swing that day.

Owned Z785 7-pw Z585 4-6 combo;  T200 and currently using/LOVING i210.

Feel : nothing beats that 1020 endo forged from the Z785/zx7 one piece heads.....

T200 has a definitive CLICKY feel/sound with the longer irons but were the longest,  highest hitting set

I210, far and away the MOST CONSISTENT in terms of distance control .....shortest of the 3 but still very solid;  my scores reflect the overall consistency and confidence I'm exhibiting with them.

Make sure shaft profile fits properly.

As @DFDLT stated,  the reason Ping has them still in production after nearly 4yrs is that they aren't finding better to replace them with!

With iron shafts I would put an emphasis on feel if the numbers are in an acceptable range(a little bit of more spin in your case wouldn't hurt)

If you are happy with the feel of the KBS Tour, I don't see a reason why you should change the shaft and honestly I don't really see a point to move on with the T-200, but hey we are here at WRX😂

The shaft is super important and worth dialing in before you settle on a head design.

Performance-wise these irons shouldn't vary much. The feel and aesthetics are quite different. As a long-time devotee of Srixon forged irons it would be really hard for me to give up that feel for something like the i210. The performance advantage would have to be dramatic.

All i know is that if you cant find the blend of distance and forgiveness in the p770 with the stock kbs 130 x shafts then its not the clubs fault.  I played ap2s since 2008 and these p770s are like a free cheat code. Especially the long irons.

With the current prices, I would throw in the PXG, either 0211 or Gen 3 0311P.  I came from i210's my favorite iron I had ever owned, and before those 919 JPX's.  The PXG 0311P's are awesome, and they aren't much more now than the other clubs you are looking at.  The PXG 0211 is even less.

Depending on which shaft you want though, the PXG's may have a significant up charge.  I switched from the DG X100 to the Elevate Tour X100 since it was the stock shaft from PXG and I knew I could swap out the DG X100's I have if I needed to.

The Gen3 )311P Elevate Combo is far and away my favorite irons I have ever owned now, significantly better than my DG X100 i210's.  Much more forgiving, better looking, better feeling, launch higher, and fly farther.  I liked them so much I bought my son a set of 0211 DCs to replace his Ping iE's that were previously mine.  We both couldn't be happier.

Had the t200 and switched to Zx7 and I'm never looking back. 🤩

They feel awesome, look very good at address, provide great feedback and are quite forgiving.

Make sure to try them on grass so you can get a feel of the V sole, which is not for every body.

I've been gaming the i210 for the last year and a half and love them.  Got the itch and found a great deal on a set of ZX7.  The ZX7s kicked the i210s out pretty quick.  I am getting similar dispersion, but the ZX7 are longer and have been super forgiving.  I would game both in a heartbeat, but I am so happy with the ZX7, I havent taken the i210s back on the course.  Can't make a bad decision between the two, they are both fantastic.

I went from the 210 to the ZX7.  I liked the 210 but it didn't get through the turf like my previous irons (Mizuno).    I'm more a digger and the the 210 kind of bounced through the grass which wasn't ideal (for me).  The v-sole is a great fit and is very similar to my old Mizuno 900F irons which also had their version of the v-sole.  I am also a half club longer with the Srixon irons for whatever reason.
