Yes! putters - which were the best? Who’s playing one?

I got back into golf after Yes! went extinct but discovered them late last year after picking up a Tracy 2. I now have cheaply acquired:

Tracy 2 flange line

Tracy 2 top line

Tracy 3 plumber neck

Callie

Allie Tour Forged

Ann

I know there were a bunch of -f forged and -fc forged carbon models too. Anything great I haven’t tried yet? As for which of the above I prefer, I think it’s still the Tracy 2 for feel but the toe hang is a little much some  days.

Tracie 2 Topline… Never seen that one before.

I have an old torched Sophia tour that gets pulled out every once in a while. Always wanted a Bella tour.

I've been playing the Yes! Sophia 8802-style putter as a lefty for the last 14-15 years and love it. It feels heavier than it looks which I appreciate, and the roll is so good.

I have confidence on short/mid-range putts but definitely can struggle with longer lag putts. It's just not forgiving on mis-hits and the distance loss and twisting can be rough. It's the only reason I'm considering a new putter after 1.5 decades. The Evnroll looks like a natural evolution of Yes! putters, so they interest me a lot.

Having owned a couple Evnroll putters as well as a lefty Sophia I will say you might be disappointed.  The Sophia feels solid and I personally feel the Evnrolls are harsh.  But definitely try an Evnroll just know it is not a YES! putter 🙂

I absolutely love YES putters.  I wish that Taylormade would either make some new putters with that technology or license it to someone.  I like to collect them and being left handed sometimes they can be harder to find (especially in good condition).

I have a Sophia, Carolyn, Valerie, and Olivia.

Awww, that’s sad to hear. I’ll be going to try them out Saturday, but will go in with expectations tempered.

What putter are you gaming now?

I believe TaylorMade have let the C-Groove patent lapse, meaning it's free now for any company to use. Bettinardi recently used it to make a custom putter for Matthew Fitzpatrick who is a Yes! putter addict as well.

Been putting terribly lately so recently gone back to the Yes! Callie I used to use as a junior. I've put a new shaft in it and a Super Stroke Claw 1.0 with a 75g counterweight and I putted amazingly this weekend. The roll the Yes grooves seem to put on the ball is great.

For those that are interested my Callie head weighed 358g. I was surprised it was that heavy.

YES! putters are great. My dad has been playing the same tracy since probably 2007. I bought a callie and played it for a couple seasons. They set up nicely behind the ball and roll the ball well. I'd still be playing mine if I didn't prefer mallets so much.

The first putter I ever bought in a store was a Yes! Tiffany, still the best alignment aid I've ever used but the face balance doesn't quite suit my stroke. Still have it.. There were so many models released, is there a comprehensive list somewhere with pictures of all the models? Might be a good project for a Yes! superfan to undertake

I just picked up a Callie (350g-ish) and a Victoria II (370G).

Getting two different styles/models will help me figure out which one fits my stroke better - so far, I really love the roll with both.  Playing on medium to slower greens, the roll is super important.

I used to play golf with Doug Dalziel from Carnoustie, who played the Champions Tour in the 90's, and he had a Yes Putter than rolled the ball like a dream.  He was such a great and funny guy - we enjoyed being with him on the course, but the after-golf stories were the best.

He passed recently, but thinking of him the other day made me decide to get a couple of Yes Putters.

I’ve had probably 7 or 8 different models in the bag over the years.  Brilliant putters.

**I’m not desperate for the sale 🤦‍♂️

But do have a pretty immaculate Courtney [Flow neck] model for sale in the U.K. if anyone needs this model in their collection or otherwise.

Lovely shape, 355g head weight: just doesn’t suit my eye quite as much as the Rife I’ve been and will continue to roll…

10 years or so ago when Yes! Putters we’re more widely available I probably had ten different models in my bag at different times. I forget all the names but the Callie and Tracy were the two I consistently played. Still bag an old Tracy Tour occasionally and have a Callie head in a box somewhere.

I am by no means a Yes putter aficionado, but I believe that somewhere I read that due to the relatively deep grooves on these putters the contact point with the ball is smaller than it would be with a putter having a flat surface or even a less aggressive milling depth. The theory being that this will result in a softer feel. I'm not in any way making representations about this claim but please pipe in if you have an opinion.

I've got three of these, a Tracy, a Marilyn and a Callie. Personally I'm buying the Kool-ade, I think it helps put a good roll on the ball. Of the three the Marilyn has some loss of surface coating due to age. Not sure if many people would spend the resources to refinish the more common models. Shaft rust I think is another potential issue, but apart from those that were painted white I think they've proven to be a decent quality mass produced putter.
