Tensei 1k vs ventus black

Anyone have any experience with these. I’m ordering the g425 lst and wondering if I should give the tensei 1k a try. I know what to expect with the ventus black but not so much the tensei.  What’s your experience?

I game the Ventus Black and have a 1k on the way which should arrive sometime later this week.  I will keep you posted.

Ive played ventus black for 2 years just tried the 1K tensei it was not even close to performing on the level of ventus black was sold it same day.

I was curious about the 1k but just seeing how many pros are in the ventus and reading about the ventus line here I went with the Ventus Black. Compared to the tensei av raw orange I was playing before its night and day better for me. Launch is slightly flatter than the orange was (which I need), also I really think there's something to the velocore are my misses don't curve nearly as much and I still get almost full distance which really surprised me. Another thing I've noticed is the feel, for some reason this feels so smooth and buttery compared to the av orange. It has a nice little feel of loading at the top, and that combined with knowing it'll never go right (I'm a lefty) allows me to swing free. I should've have bought the ventus black instead of the tensei av orange last year but that's what happens when you don't have fitters and your on a tiny tropical island in the middle of nowhere 🤣 

 

I'm sure the 1K is nice, ill be following the thread and looking forward to hear how they compare to each other.

Im interested in this too. The true “white” profiles haven’t been my favorite, but the 1k has my interest. I’m also considering going from the 6x to the 6tx in Ventus Black.

The tensei 1K white doesnt feel like the pro white at all the torque is very high and the shaft felt very soft. I know the 1K was supposed to be the answer to the Ventus but its not even close. Tensei felt very weird and kicked to much. I loved the pro white but the 1K is a different animal.

Was the distance better for u in the ventus?

I’m not sure how you compare a stiff mid shaft in 1K vs a soft(ish) mid shaft in Ventus Black. The load and feel during the swing will be very different. The only way to know which is best is to test.

Tensei 1K was way too soft and whippy for me when testing. Ventus black is on another level much more stout. Can't give numbers comparison with ventus black because I've only hit it on course but the 1K definitely was softer and spun a lot more than Ventus Blue on sim. 1K was just not a good fit for me. I just don't see 1K being on the same level as VB it seems to be for a totally different person.

Hmmm interesting.  The reception of this shaft seem to be hot or miss.  I haven’t seen any on tour either and everyone is using a ventus

Just have to hit it yourself I only hit about 5-6 balls with it but that's all it takes for me to know if a shaft works or not. I just a Diamana DF in my driver and I've only seen a few guys on tour use that but I think it's an amazing shaft so can't go by that.

The DF is probably the most similar MCA shaft to the Ventus Black. Tour adoption for 1K seems to be slow. The new Kai’li shafts are really the shafts that are designed to target the Velocore shafts however those are Tour only at this point and should hit retail in Jan 2022.

Yeah I'd say Ventus Black seems quite similar to me just a little more stout and firm feeling. Alex Noren I think plays the Ka’ili White but I haven't seen anyone else with it haven't seen any with the 1K.

There are a few Tour players using the 1K however I think the Kai’li Proto is getting more play.

I love my Ventus Black.  Just stiff throughout the entire profile which makes it linear.  Not boardy at and it gives me a mid launch but flattens out.  Only problem is that it can balloon on me at times into the wind.  I don't know why I'm even getting the Tensei 1k tbh, lol.

I will throw in my two cents. I have played tensei pro blue and white both in 70tx, pro white 60tx and ventus blue in 6x. With that background I had a 1k white 60tx and got rid of it pretty quick. I found it the lowest hitting and even stiffer feeling than the other tx models and not as soft feeling than the other tensei models. I thought ventus blue 6x felt softer than all of the others. Ymmv, 1k just did not work for me.

Thanks for the info.  See, I have the opposite issue.  I need a shaft that is really stiff in both the tip and mid.  Butt I don't really care about since it's mostly a feel thing.  Low/low is def a good thing for me.

AV Raw TX shafts are expensive/premium material aftermarket shafts.  All other flexes are cheaper and designed to be sold to OEM's as stock shaft options

I've had and tested both on course.  Quick rundown: 1K will feel smoother/more active, it also might give you a little more ballspeed.  VB is more stable feeling and doesn't have left in it for me, 1K did.  Now I was testing the 60TX 1K to the VB 70X.  At some point I want to test the 70TX 1K and see if that takes the left out that I saw with the 60.  Spin wise, both were in the neighborhood, nothing drastically different.  Same with traj.

I've been told the same as well.  I have a problem with the lefts.  I remember us having a discussion where you said I should try the 1k over the AV raw proto 2.0.  Since that convo, you had me intrigued so I decided to bite the bullet and get one.  I had Justin_D tip it an inch and I'm going with the 70tx.  My Ventus Black is tipped half an inch.  Do you think that would help with cutting down on the lefts?  I swing in to out so my miss is a hook.

I saw in your WITB thread you were considering going with a ventus blue 7X?  How’d that go for you?
