Just had an email today from Snainton golf in the UK. Garmin have told them no units until the end of September. My order was mid July. Email received below. Will likely cancel and decide later when more thorough reviews and comparisons are available.

"Good Morning

Thank you for your email with Snainton Golf.

We have just had an update from Garmin regarding your R10 device. Unfortunately, Garmin has contacted us today to advise this batch of Garmins we have on order has been delayed on their side and will now not be with us until End Sept, they are hoping this may change and they will be with us sooner but have advised us to let customer's know it is most likely going to be the end of September before they take delivery of them. Could you please respond to this email and let us know if you are happy to carry on waiting or if you do not wish to wait until then so we can start to arrange your refund so we can make notes on your order and keep things moving ready for their arrival to make sure you get your device as soon as possible."

I ordered the 8th of July the day after launch and have had no email at all from snaition. I did phone last week and was told this week would be shipping. Will call tomorrow.

Hi all, I'm wondering if the R10 would work with my current garage set up - I have the right amount of distance from device to ball and ball to net, but as a righty in a sort of narrow garage, the right hand wall is about a foot and a half from the ball position. Can anyone with hands on experience say if that would cause issues reading ball flight?

Just got back from range session #3. Made sure there was nothing metal anywhere in front of me or within an 8ft circle otherwise (based off a post from Garmin forums) and performance was much better. Very similar to the first session but I hit a lot more balls this time with pretty much every club in the bag. I think I had  a total of 3 shots where the shot shape was wrong but like the 1st session, they all involved heel or toe strikes. I hit a bunch of 3 wood shots off the deck and thought there might be an issue there as I was consistently 15-20 yards short of what I would expect but then I remembered I had turned the loft way up a few days ago turning it into more of a 4.5 wood so I think the R10 was probably spot on. The only concerns are that driver does seem a bit shorter than expected, but only by 10-15 yards (and I haven't been hitting driver particularly well the last few days so it may be correct) and wedge spin seemed a little bit low (SW was spinning around 7-8K vs 9-10K that I see on aboutGolf simulators). Overall much happier today and the lesson seems to be that you need to be careful about leaving metal objects within the FOV of the R10.

I ordered from GungHoGolf on Aug 5th, and just got my shipping notification today that it should be here on Wednesday. Definitely looking forward to testing it. Unfortunately no access to other launch monitors to provide head to head comparisons, but I'll try to hit the range this weekend to throw some more anecdotal testimony in here.

Just got mine from playbetter in the mail.  Had a nice little personal thank you note in there which was appreciated.  I did a quick range session with it and found it very comparable to my old G80 numbers (sold it in preparation for the R10).  Ball flight was accurate for nearly every shot with maybe some being underrepresented (IE:  Shows a draw instead of a hook).  I basically simulated a round with Home Tee Hero and had a fantastic time with it.  I personally really love the cartoony Mario Golf style graphics to it and will probably commit to a subscription once they get an iPad version with landscape mode.  For 600 dollars?  It's not even close - this thing is the biggest bargain I've ever seen in the simulator market.  Combined with splurging for a Spornia SPG-7 net and a decent mat, I'm getting a proper simulator setup in my garage for under 1000 dollars, which was impossible to do before this product.

This is the setup I'll have - spg7, decent mat and the r10 (when it arrives) - all in the garage. Just worried about my metal roller door causing interference 😕

Garmin R10 vs Trackman 4 test.

Glad to see this comparison.

However, the Garmin is not lined up directly behind the ball. From what I have read here, that's critical.

Also, they talk a great deal about spin axis but never discuss the left or right variation in yards.

I'm looking forward to using this as a sim and that's what I want to know, how accurate is it in determining the direction of the ball flight.

Spin axis doesn't tell me that.

They looked at launch direction a number of times in that video and it was pretty much bang on with the Trackman, usually within a few tenths of a degree. It does sound like they were less impressed with the indoor performance though.

Yikes hope that doesn’t mean a sim projector mounted above my head or steel cabinets along the side wall of the garage will mess with the radar .. definitely don’t have any issues with the SC300 in garage.. thanks for the info! 👍🏻

I’m not sure if I’m being clueless, but I hooked the Garmin to a projector via hdmi through my phone and all you get in the Garmin phone app is a portrait mode projection that is tiny and petty useless (may as well just look at your phone). It won’t do landscape mode. I haven’t activated the subscription (not sure if I’m going to keep it) but assume the Home Town Hero will display in the same way. I also assume E6 must display landscape, but unless there is a way to push landscape mode through your phone then HTH will be pretty limited as a projected sim. Anyone else try this out? I have a skytrak with TGC19 so I bought the Garmin to use outdoors at the range, but it seems odd that their simulator wouldn’t display well via a projector.

My range has those metal dividers between mats so that I don't kneecap the person to my right with a hosel rocket.  Do you think those would interfere with the R10?

So far it's only available in portrait mode 😕

The New iPad os coming out in a couple weeks will allow for better landscape projection, but it won't look great until garmin updates (if they do..which honestly I'm not holding my breath for

It's been brought up to Garmin as a wishlist item in their R10 forums and they've promised to take a look at improving display functionality..

Serious question for those hitting into a average size net in the garage or back yard:

If the R10 requires 8' from the ball to the net, what is the highest lofted club you could use before you start risking hitting it over the net?

And, when it says it needs 8' in front of the ball, does that mean to the start(sides of the net) or the back of the net where it will actually be stopped by the net?

Answer to first question depends on several factors but primarily the height of the net.

As for second, I would assume the front of the net.  It probably assumes that the net is a vertical one.

I have a Rukket Haack Pro net and am probably set up about 8 feet from it.  I don't have an R10 so just speaking to what clubs can be hit.  For me, I have hit all the way up to a 58 and haven't had anything even close to going over the net.  I hit the ball pretty high too.  But, of course it will depend on the player.

For those looking. Golfio is showing in stock with free shipping. They also have 2 available on ebay for a minimal upcharge.

Where do you see they show as in stock?  Not familiar with Golfio - but I see nothing on the site that denotes they are available to ship.

Eagerly awaiting my r10 this or next week.

I’ll be using it at the grass range at the course and also my home net.

My home set up is not ideal though. My garden slopes from back down to the house so my hitting net sits a little higher.

I’ll need to find a way to raise the r10 up to level. I was Intending on getting a low rise tripod - a levelling head and a laptop platform that will attach to the levelling head. this should all work fine other than I’m now concerned that the metal content could interfere with the radar? I might have to resort to building something out of wood?

The hitting nets at my local course have a ~6-8" dropoff from the back of the mats to the ground which make using any launch monitor difficult. I drilled out a small 5/16" pocket in the center of the included tripod and then just mount it on an alignment stick to get the height right as well as level it.

I did some trig yesterday to figure this out after sending a lob wedge shot 80 yards down the street.

I have the Rukket 7' net, which dips in the middle a bit.  I looked up trackman data for pga launch angle, and it looks like -20* from loft for wedges would be a good target.  Assuming 9' from the net, that leaves you with <1* margin of error with a 58* lob wedge.

All this to confirm what I already knew, that I need an 8' net to comfortably hit a lob wedge.

Yes, a properly struck wedge shot will come off the club at maybe 20 degrees or so lower than the loft of the wedge. That is not the issue.

It's what can happen with a severely bad swing with a wedge that you have to account for. I don't think I'm unique but with almost any club you can name (not just LW) I am capable of hitting one out of every 50 or 100 balls over an 8' tall net that's 8' in front of me.

And then there's the lateral issues (hosel rockets, toe-jams, several pulls) that can escape to the left or right of a net that far away. Be very careful.

Curious, has anyone that bought from Golf Galaxy or Dicks received theirs (or a shipping notice) yet?  Just pinged customer service again and they haven't changed their "on or after" date from 8/15 and will only tell me that it will ship very soon.  I can't wait to get mine and have been checking my email every 5 mins, lol.

My R10 from Golf Galaxy shipped this morning.  I ordered it on July 12.

Or my last net, punched a hole, went right through, hit my fence and up about 80 feet straight into my neighbors yard… whoops
