From here
Measured Metrics:
    • Ball speed (+/- 1mp)
    • Launch angle (+/- 1 degree)
    • Launch direction (+/- 1 degree)
    • Club head speed (+/- 3mph)
    • Club path (+/- 2 degrees)
    • Back swing and down swing times (+/- 0.05 sec)
    • Angle of attack (+/- 1 degree)
Other Metrics Shown from Calculations of R10:
    • Club face angle (+/- 2 degrees)
    • Spin rate
    • Spin axis
    • Observed ball flight range
Metrics Shown in the Golf App:
    • Carry distance (+/- 5 yards)
    • Total distance (+/- 10 yards)
    • Smash factor
    • Swing tempo
    • Apex height (+/- 10 feet)

Thanks. I knew all those metrics that were listed couldn't be measured at that price. Interested to see how accurate it will be without measuring spin. I know plenty of side by side videos with other launch monitors will pop up quickly once it gets in more hands.

Not having spin but having club path and lateral launch direction is an interesting tradeoff.

Given that their monetization model seems to be selling simulator subscriptions, I can see why they absolutely had to have the path and direction measurements. As a launch monitor, spin is pretty important but an estimate of it from other parameters probably works fine for simulator duty.

I'm not the most tech savvy so don't quite understand how this device will estimate certain metrics but am I right in thinking that this will capture, slices, hooks, shanks, duffs, etc. If so and at roughly £500, isn't this device what we've all been waiting for all of these years?

Any of these monitors have a set of formulas describing what values of unmeasured parameters correspond to the measured one.

The simplest possible case would be a club speed radar that only measures how fast you swing the club. Let's say you tell it you're using a 7-iron and it measures 80mph. It could assume a smash factor of 1.3, estimate clubhead speed at 104mph, assume a loft of 30 degrees, then plug that in to some equation that estimates (meaning GUESSES) how far and how high the ball will fly.

Realistically, these $500-class launch monitors are getting several measured parameters so their guesses can be pretty darned good. But it still works out to be something like, "Most people who have such-and-such measured values will hit a 160 yard shot that peaks at 92 feet, starts out 10 yards left and slices 22 yards". For a given swing those "160", "92", "10" and "22" numbers might not be right at all. But most often they'll be in the right ballpark.

If it does as good a job of club speed, ball speed and launch angle as MLM or Mevo AND it can actually do a good job of measuring club path, initial lateral ball direction and angle of attack that sounds like an upgrade over those or any other $500-class devices.

If the club path and lateral ball movement turns out to be a little iffy or if it has difficulty with the ball club/ball speed then maybe not so much.

And of course nobody knows until they've shipped a few hundreds of them whether the device works reliably and so forth.

Ordered one yesterday.  Says it will ship by end of month.  I have heard from a beta tester who used one in the late winter/spring.  Feedback: it was amazingly accurate.  I have a buddy with a GCQuad...first step is to take it over and measure it against his device on face angle, face to path and the distance estimates.  To me, those are the key measurements that I get from a gcquad.  As long as they are close, it will work fine for what i need.

Anyway to preorder in Canada? All I can get is an email signup.

It's at gpscity and gpscentral, but only paid shipping options 🤢 (unless you are in Calgary). It's showing July 21 availability, but maybe that's just a guess on their part? with Garmin showing 5-8 weeks...

No chance I'm pre-ordering without free shipping and free returns if this ends up being a stinker.

Might wait for it to hit Amazon unless the reviews are amazing.

I was looking at this a few nights ago as the video showed up in my youtube feeds. Did a search here but no threads at the time.

Just checked Australian website and it is available for pre order, 3-5 week wait for AUD $879 delivered. Absolute bargain if any good so did a pre order.

Be very interested to see how long it actually will be to arrive in Australia. I'm still waiting since 23 June for ferrules from Billy Bobs!

Unlike in the posted video, according to the manual it needs 8ft of ball flight and be positioned 6 to 8ft behind the ball, so unfortunately it’s not going to work in tight indoors spaces.

And if you use it outdoors…. You can see which direction it’s going anyway. So to me, they’ve traded some measured metrics for spin in a slightly unhelpful way when focussing on the indoors market would have been better.

Unless you have a hitting area in your backyard, then this would be great.
