rangefinder recommendation

Recommended Posts

Anyone with thoughts on a good value non-slope rangefinder?  My 10 year old junior golfer plays in quite a few tournaments and preference would be to get her a rangefinder that does not have slope function rather than one that can have that function turned off (just in case she forgets to turn it off).

Thanks!
David

Leopold GX-1.  Do not believe they retail anymore, yet can get them used for a fraction of new.  Solid performance year after year.

Hi @davidinhk nowadays the majority of Range finders do have slope however the one I have purchased is this one

https://www.amazon.co.uk/MiLESEEY-Rangefinder-Flag-Lock-Tournament-Magnification/dp/B0899J1RJ7/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=1VZ3XXJ6TWALT&dchild=1&keywords=mileseey+golf+rangefinder&qid=1625655972&sprefix=mileseey%2Caps%2C180&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExTU9WUUQ2MUdGSlBWJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMzUxNjcwMkdINzlYMkVRTlo1MSZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNTgyMzU1MVBXTVJYS0FTREtMVSZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=

Very good value and nearly less than half the price of the big names. there is a little switch in where the battery compartment is (in pic below) Flick it down and that would turn the slope function off then you cover it with a piece of tape for piece of mind.

best of luck to your daughters game and hope it helps ^_^

good golf ⛳

Not sure what your definition of a good value is, but it's tough to beat a Bushnell. There's a reason why the vast majority of tour pros choose a Bushnell over other brands.

You can usually find new ones without the slope feature for $300ish. If that's too expensive try shopping around for a used one that is still in good condition.

The reason they choose Bushnell is because they get them for free.  Some even get paid to have the logo on their collar.

There's definitely something more important that I should be doing.

You really can not go wrong with the standard bushnell without slope They just work and the battery lasts a long time. Also everyone knows them and they are accurate.

I did also buy the Precision Pro  nx9  because it had slope and was cheap.  It is an impressive rangefinder for half the price and just as good as the bushnell we have. I think there is one without slope so if you looking for  a cheaper range finder it's worth checking out.

I will second the precision pro.  I don't have one but know people that do.

Hi all, thanks for the replies....I now have some further research to do!  Before writing this thread, I had considered the Bushnell v5 without slope as the default as I had seen it for selling for ~$300 from time to time.  I know its the best quality and would have resale value if ever needed.

Thanks again!

They break in 3-5 years.  Really no resale value in them.  If some one buys them used they are an idiot.

YMMV on that one. Mine is 4 years old and my dad has had his Bushnell since '08 and both still work perfectly fine. Maybe ours are just rare exceptions, but other than replacing the battery once a year or so we've had no issues.

However, I could see if you're rough with it or if you keep it in the cubby of the cart and it's banging around the whole time that it might not last as long.
