I know a member here qualified for it. I'm rooting that he does well and enjoy his moment. A very good player.

Yeah, the US Senior Open does not really get that much attention. I did attend one a few years ago on a Friday and because the galleries were relatively small, it was easy to see some of the players.

Looks like a nice course this year.

"Get dressed Spaulding, you're playing golf today."
" No I'm not Grandpa, I'm playing tennis."
"No, you're playing golf and you're going to like it."

Glad to see Kevin qualify! I was lucky enough to get fitted by him and spoke with him about the upcoming push for the Senior Tour. Looking forward to seeing him go low and wish we were able to get a round in before I moved.

The senior US open is being played this week and I don't see any post about it!? or am I just blind?  I know the senior tour isn't talked about too much but thought it was strange to not see any post about it.

A good friend of mine turned 50 this year and qualified for it. Kevin Kraft is the player if anyone wants to see how he does.

The course looks awesome and he said it is definitely going to be a tough test!

Kevin is my fitter at the 2nd Swing here in Maryland.  A great fitter and even better guy.   That's two loca's Ill be following,  Drew Forrester who is a sports media icon here in the area for the past 20 years also qualified.  I know Drew well.  I'll be following both Drew and Kevin as well as the usual's!

There are guys playing in the Deere in lieu of. That probably says a lot right there.

^^^^^^^^ this x1000. Stricker, the defending champion, is skipping it. Like, do we really need a Senior Tour? I would much rather watch KFT or LPGA than the seniors, honestly, and I think their purses should be bigger or at least equivalent to watching the old guys bat it around. But maybe I am just a disrespectful youth?

why wouldn't you have a sr tour? ... is its existence that much of an irritant? ...

It's not an irritant but I am surprised the Senior Tour gets priority for TV rights over the Korn Ferry Tour. I used to love watching the Nike/Web.com tour on golf channel because you got to see young up and comers with game. I guess I am just surprised the Senior Tour pays as much as it does and has a full schedule (maybe it would be better to just do the majors and like 3 other tournaments). This is not me trying to reshape the world here but Alex Cejka is cleaning up out there, currently, and he had 1 win on PGA Tour and like 4 on the Euro tour. I'm sure Tommy Tolles is a nice guy but I don't see myself racing to the TV to watch him play.

I am sure someone will school me on the economics of this and that there are more people that would rather watch Jay Haas and Esteban Toledo play golf than Greyson Sigg and Stephan Jaeger but that is shocking to me. Also, the Senior Tour's purses are 3x that of the KFT and 2x the LPGA but maybe this is all backed up by the Sponsors. However, if for some reason the PGA Tour is siphoning off money to prop up the Senior Tour, that makes no sense. KFT, yes, because that is your minor league but not as a merit based pension for the older gents.

TLDR - happy to be shouted down about having a bad take on the PGA Tour Champions

Who’s playing the Deere that’s qualified other than Stricker? Jerry Kelly is even playing the Open instead of Deere.

Tommy Tolles is one of the coolest dudes out there but he’s not in the field this week.

bit odd for stricker to not defend, but it's close to home, and he's ryder cup captain ... and he can compete here, a bit ... not sure what else it could be, or should be ...

I posted this in the John Deere thread. It's from May and explains his reasoning for not playing in the US Senior Open. Mostly RC related.

If he wanted to see potential Ryder Cup picks play, he should have headed to Europe this week. The only person in the Deere field with a chance of being picked for the Ryder Cup is Daniel Berger.

Bizarre decision from Stricker, then....he gets to watch/interact with almost no-one at the Deere whilst not defending a CT major?

Better sort out his thinking.
